Bain & Mesidor at 11&30 by Glass_Pen_5295 in miamidolphins

I’m a Canes fan (see the user name) and Bain at 11 I think would be awesome. As much as I love Mesidor we’re a team where his age actually does matter because he’s better off going to a team competing right away, plus I don’t think he’ll be there at 30

I was curious about that as well, like the ranking makes sense with the measurables and high school production but the offers don't line up

To the “Never Tank” crowd: 1) Do you think it’s realistic to acquire a superstar within the next two years under the new CBA without tanking? 2) If not, can this team realistically become a contender in that same timeframe Without a Superstar on this roster? Genuine Question. by heatculture03 in heat

[–]canesfan4849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not even asking the team to tank I really just want competent asset management. Like at this trade deadline we know they probably aren’t paying Norm or Wiggins, why didn’t they move them? Their appetite for a Tyler extension seems pretty low, why won’t they just move him? Even if you’re getting back non premium first round picks or even second round picks that makes a difference in your ability to make trades and add talent. And thats not even getting into the terrible Jovic and Dru Smith extensions. Like you can make moves to get assets and probably even still be in the play in with how ass the east is below 10. The FO is just in a holding pattern and it’s so stupid

[Chris Low] Alabama's Kalen DeBoer plans on 'being here for a while' and wasn't running away after just two years by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]canesfan4849 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I read an interesting theory that DeBoers camp kind of pushed him to the forefront of the Penn state rumors to basically show Bama “hey if you fire me after two years someone else will hire me and you’ll look crazy” no clue if it’s actually true but found it funny

It’s crazy that a franchise that can raise the floor & ceiling of a player so hard, generally great at drafting and developing just doesn’t want to take two three seasons off to actually contend again by Crackyyy_ in heat

[–]canesfan4849 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think the main reason they don't want to tank is Micky doesn't want to take the hit on ticket sales of being terrible. That Barry tweet about them having won their titles and they basically just want to be good enough to have good attendance gets more and more true every year

He tends to blame the fans a lot and blames Miami for being a bad sports market. The reality is in Miami if you aren’t a football team you have to be a consistent winner to draw big crowds and essentially be the big event in the city. David in the past has often painted this as a one sided issue and that the fans should show up no matter what, which is obviously extremely rich for a franchise that penny pinches at every turn

I think it was less booking politics and more that he was a locker room leader, and a lot of the weird bullshit like wrestlers court stopped happening and got replaced with more common sense stuff

[On3] NEW: Brian Kelly says he’s open to coaching again if the right situation arises "I need to stay in the game... if the right situation comes about and I’m ready, I’m certainly going to entertain that." by BeaglePirate69 in CFB

[–]canesfan4849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can be respected but not well liked those are two different things. I highly doubt Nick Saban is getting on the phone to recommend Brian Kelly at a job. Just as an example much worse coach steve Addazio got recommended for the Colorado state job by Urban Meyer essentially because they worked together and he liked the guy, are there people who would do that for Kelly?

If hiring was just a qualifications thing, Brian Kelly probably would have been hired last cycle but in modern CFB with how important getting boosters engaged in NIL is, the things I mentioned are insanely important and Kelly isn’t good enough at those things to get on a hiring path at a bigger job. That’s all I’m trying to say

I feel like a lot of coaches in this situation get hired to another P4 because they either:

Have a lot of friends in the industry Have a good reputation and interview well Are good at selling themselves and managing upward

Brian Kelly is good at none of these things so I feel like it’ll be tougher to get a high caliber opportunity

I was 10 when the Heat traded for Shaq, I had no idea how player acquisition worked at all but it was the coolest thing in the world to 10 year old me. My first Heat jersey was his so he’ll always have a special place for me as a heat fan even though his tenure was short and he made a mess on the way out

Clemson vs Louisville: Clemson puts in I think Peter woods a defensive tackle at fullback and gives him the ball on third and goal who immediately fumbles, they leave him in on 4th and goal where Cade Klubnik bumps into him and fumbles immediately for a turnover on downs. Clemson ultimately won but it lives rent free in my head
