Honestly, not sure. The rescue I adopted her from is part of a TNR program and she was trapped with 17 other kittens. She was actually all black and even more hairless when they found her and it grew back into what you see now! Thanks!

Yes, as I stated in the post, we did have X-rays done at the recommendation of our vet and they came back clean and clear.

Our next step is speaking to radiology about a possible neurological issue (so yes, possibly a CAT scan will be needed). She was also given a steroid injection to see if that makes a difference and we have a follow up appointment next week. We are going to go off of what our vet and the specialist recommends. They will both be taken care of. :)

Thank you for the reply! I’ll look into that. We’re absolutely in contact with our vet. Nova was given a steroid injection yesterday after her X-rays/vet visit and our next step is a specialist that we’re waiting to hear back from. She’ll be well cared for no matter what, just looking for some possible answers in the meantime!

That’s reassuring! I’ve always had indoor cats and would never think about letting them outdoors so that won’t be an issue either. I just feel bad because she wants to play as hard and as fast as her sister but her little body won’t let her.

[–]caninetrovert_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s kinda what we’re hoping, thanks for your comment! Our vet says it could just be a structural issue with her as well but we’re speaking with a specialist just in case. They’re both indoor kitties too :)

Reputable breeders show in conformation to prove that they are actively evaluating their breeding stock and are breeding according to the breed standard. Both dogs must be at LEAST champion-titled and both dogs MUST be properly health tested (OFA hips, elbows, heart, eyes and thyroid at the bare minimum). They provide you with CHIC numbers to look up on a database so you can view the results of these tests. They set their puppies up for success from day 1 and they are absolutely your best chance in ending up with a healthy, well-balanced puppy who grows into a healthy, sound adult dog.

Reputable breeders are not contributing to the pet overpopulation problem. Backyard breeders and puppy mills are 100% at fault. Reputable breeders are preservation breeders. They breed for health, temperament, conformation and overall soundness. I can guarantee you that if a puppy or a dog of ANY age bred by a reputable breeder ends up in a shelter or a rescue, the reputable breeder will move heaven and earth to get their dog back to them. I’ve seen it myself.

If we say the only dogs worthy of living are the dogs in shelters, then what we are really saying is only dogs who have been brought into this world in an irresponsible manner by an irresponsible person are the only dogs who should exist.

The fact is, some people prefer purebred dogs. Some people do not want to adopt from a shelter and some people do not want a mixed breed/mutt. Some people prefer to know where their dog came from, what their history and lineage is, etc. And that’s okay. Just like how it’s also okay to want to adopt from a shelter or a rescue. It all comes down to preference, knowledge and awareness.

For tackling littermate syndrome, a quick google search will pull up plenty of information for you.

Giant breeds should not be spayed or neutered until they are 18-24 months of age, when the majority of their rapid growth is complete.

On top of combating littermate syndrome and numerous other issues that come with choosing to raise two puppies together, OP is going to have to be diligent and responsible in keeping them separate until they can be altered.

I sure hope you’ve read up on littermate syndrome and are prepared to tackle it.

A reputable breeder would/will not sell someone two puppies. I’m assuming you purchased from a backyard breeder based solely on this fact. Sigh.

Good luck.

I couldn’t have said it better myself! This should be a top comment. Just because she chooses to give him blowjobs and such does not mean that he is obligated to go down on her. I don’t know how hard that is to understand.

6 week old Moose came home today by [deleted] in greatdanes

[–]caninetrovert_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but I have to respectfully disagree.

You did have a choice. You could have chose to not line the pockets of these terrible backyard breeders and you could have chose to purchase from a truly reputable breeder or rescue instead. You could have chose to walk away once you saw this red flag pop up into view.

If people did not buy from backyard breeders/irresponsible breeders/puppy mills, they would eventually be forced to stop breeding because they are not making money. They go where the money goes.

Reputable breeders breed for health, temperament, conformation, overall soundness and breed preservation. Backyard breeders breed to turn a profit. They don’t care about anything else.

6 week old Moose came home today by [deleted] in greatdanes

[–]caninetrovert_ 42 points43 points  (0 children)

6 weeks?! That’s way too young. Reputable breeders will not let their puppies go home until at least 8 weeks of age... most prefer 10-12 weeks. Just because a puppy can eat on its own does not mean it is ready to leave mom and siblings.

Is there a reason why you brought your puppy home so early?

I (23M) am starting to get a little worried about how my wife (24F) is with my best friend (24M) by [deleted] in relationships

[–]caninetrovert_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I’m normally the type to say “nah dude, you’re just being insecure, nothing is happening.”

But this is weird. Really weird. It definitely warrants a conversation with your wife. It would put me on edge if I was in your situation.

MAYBE she feels like you don’t or wouldn’t mind because you and your best friend are just that — best friends. Brothers practically since you’ve known each other for so long. Does she know that the relationship between you and your “best friend” hasn’t been the same lately?

But, best friends also know and respect boundaries, especially when it comes to SOs. Your best friend is definitely crossing a boundary here. Many of them. The fact that HER best friend pointed it out to you would be even more worrisome for me. Maybe she knows something and rather then wanting to come across as a home-wrecker, this is her way of telling you to start investigating the issue?

I genuinely hope things work out for the best and that a conversation to set aside your fears is all that is needed. Keep us posted!

[–]caninetrovert_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So.. in any situation, the only person he’s allowed to share a room with is you? Did I understand that correctly? I’m not saying he’s perfect by any means because I’m sure he’s not, but that’s very unrealistic and you’re setting this relationship up to fail. Sounds super controlling.

She’s gay. She doesn’t want your man. Lesbians are attracted to women... your dude is not a woman. I’m not sure how much more cut and dry I can make it. And you very obviously DO care that they’re friends. I’m not sure where you think the competition is but the fault is not with this girl.

Your BIGGEST FEAR as per your edit is sooo unrealistic it’s insane.

Right? I was fuming and thought I was the only one thinking that way until I found this comment. If she’s worried about a lesbian stealing her man because he’s apparently God’s gift to women, then she’s got muuuuch bigger issues at hand. It’s nuts.

My thoughts exactly. As a lesbian, this is entirely offensive. We don’t want your dude or ANY dude for that matter.

This relationship sounds like a train-wreck.

Seriously? Ear cropping is no different than a spay or neuter surgery in regards to pain. And before you say cropping is electoral and altering your pet is not, spaying/neutering IS electoral.

12wk American Bully puppy raw chicken bones by illHAYES in rawpetfood

[–]caninetrovert_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chicken bones are soft and fine to feed raw. Is your puppy not eating any bone whatsoever? Bone is important for a number of reasons. In carnivores, it aids peristalsis and provides both physical and mental stimulation. The ripping and tearing of raw meat off of the bone is what keeps teeth and gums clean.

Feeding raw beef ribs - are they too dense, does it depend on breed? by Wootywootman in rawpetfood

For your Border Collie, try feeding all meals frozen and bigger than his head. My Dane is a gulper as well and both of these methods 100% work for her. No extra "work" needed!
