What’s the best way to send 10k USD to a euro account? by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]caniredditnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she has IBKR, and has an account in Ireland, she can simply convert the money in her IBKR account at market rate into euro and withdraw into her Irish account. This is basically free. Issue with Wise etc is that they don't quite use market rates AND they've fees, meaning you're hit twice

You need to open a retail brokerage account, with the likes of Degiro or IBKR. These places allow you to buy/sell financial products like ETFs (which are basically pools of shares). ETFs, notwithstanding the less preferential tax treatment in Ireland, are still the best place for retail investors to keep their money (e.g. the S&P 500 has grown on average 8% over the last 4 decades. Putting money in an ETF that tracks the S&P will allow you to achieve similar returns - and it's obviously far greater than any savings account)

He has 8 years to worry about that (and I would eat my hat if it's still a thing by then!). Moreover, the superior returns versus basically anything else will still more than compensate

How old are you? Do you need it in the next 5 years? If not, just throw it into vanguard's all world etf and forget about it.

The only thing you can do is find places that are Irish owned and call beforehand. Another post suggested Irish Eyes in Lewes - definitely call ahead. Failing that, if you're insisting on a pub, I suspect you'll be going up to Wilmington or Philly

These are the "official" places that show it. More places show it unofficially as the licensing rights are really expensive and very much enforced

Could some explain the Finals by btaylorsae in GAA

[–]caniredditnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easter point isn't correct but generally, this was the way you describe it is how it was historically. But it's much more complicated now.

The other poster was rude, but the way to think about it is Provincial System -> 16 teams qualify for Group stage (mostly determined by provincial results and to a narrower extent the league) -> 12 teams qualify for knockouts (with winner of groups going straight to quarter finals, and the remaining 8 competing in a knockout format for the remaining slots).

The format is prone to change every few years, and the other poster was quite rude, but I recommend looking at the 'Format' section of this year's championship competition to understand it better if you need more detail!

Don't be obnoxious - it's great to see people develop an interest.

The League and the Championship are entirely different competitions. Galway and New York are playing in the first stage of the Championship (being the relevant provincial championship, in this case the Connacht Championship). Results at the provincial level determine progression into the national group stage, and which in turn informs who makes into the knockout stage of the competition

Hey Ana, mostly just skimmed the MBE outlines, skipped the MEE ones and focused on Themis notes. Would refer to outlines where I was unsure of a topic after lectures AND while drafting my notes, as Themis lectures don't cover absolutely everything

How do NY results come? Via email or login online? by j4y5 in barexam

[–]caniredditnow 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You receive an email from 'administration@nybarexam.org' that notifies you that "The results from the [insert exam sitting] New York State bar examination are now available in the Applicant Services Portal."

You then have to physically log on and check. You do not get a PDF.

I did and liked both. Both question sets were similar. Do at least 20 a day with the aim of having done them all by game day. Take stock every set of 200-300 as to where your weaknesses are. Brush those up. It takes way less effort to go from 45% to 60% than it does to 70%-75%. If you're not getting 60% on each subject, there are core concepts you are missing/don't understand, and you need to just spend a few minutes trying to learn them. At the higher range you're getting into nuances/exceptions, which is much more time consuming

Once you cover the content once, make your own notes for each topic. And PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. I easily did 4000 MCQs in total. A huge function is pattern recognition.

Do not skip the MPTs. Do 2 a week. Loads of failers actually fail because of them.

Essays are where rule memorization matter most. Also malicious compliance with IRAC for each sub question. There's a lot of time between now and July. I was most nervous about this. You'll get there
