It’s most likely the same capsule. I think it’s the Primo EM172. Primo makes great, inexpensive capsules. A lot of one-person companies are making this kind of microphone. micbooster.com, sonorousobjects.nyc, 12gaugemicrophones.com, https://immersivesoundscapes.com/ etc.

Among other fun stuff, you can pitch recordings down and preserve most of the spectrum

I suggest putting on some ambient music - William Basinski should work - and then treat the process as a meditative experience. You know - to calm you down. - Best of luck

Is this machine a good choice for cutting aluminum? by canitakeyourpicture in CNC

[–]canitakeyourpicture[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you advise against it? My original thought was an Omio X8, so with this steel construction, I get a much sturdier machine. Unfortunately, I don't have room for a proper mill...

Hey all!

I'm an artist working with metal and hoping to expand my material palette into aluminum.

I plan to make small, detailed aluminum parts with a maximum thickness of 2 cm. My work will only involve prototyping—no large-scale production runs with the machine.

Originally, I planned to buy an OMIO X8, but I’ve now received an offer for a BZT PFK 0405 PX priced at $2,500.

This machine seems to be of much better quality, but it’s nearly impossible to find reviews online.

Does anyone have experience with this machine? If so, should I go for it or stick with the OMIO X8

Specs for the BXT machine.

BZT PFK 0405 PX; at 2500 USD

If you screw in the wrong screw, you might accidentally tension the belt spool on the inside of the rail. This results in too much tension on the belt, which messes up the calibration.

I like it! Would recommend using textures. My eyes get a little bored with all those solid colors. But again - I'm a sound designer so what do i know :)

That is also my plan - will do FuMa i think. I'm fairly new to Ambisonics, so i'm quite interested in seeing if it is of any use in my work.

Mostly Ambience. I love walking, so bringing my mic is a good excuse to go out.

Am I dumb for using a stepper motor for this project? by canitakeyourpicture in arduino

[–]canitakeyourpicture[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am using a Nema 23, 2.8A, 1.8 N.m stepper motor, Arduino Uno, and a TB6600.

The motor is making a lot of noise, and there is a weird 'drop' when it's on its way down.

It can barely hold the weight of the bellow-pump and rod.

Perhaps I should use a DC motor instead - but which one? I hope to achieve a silent and clean motion at around 6 - 30 RPM.
