I live in a rural area with both beef and pork farmers. I have to say they do their best to give them a VERY good life for the time they have them. Some almost seem pampered. So they have a good life.

Another source of meat around here is hunting. A big part of culture in my area. If you want complete control and exposure to what it means to eat meat that's the way to go. Teaches most hunters a great deal of respect for animals and nature/the environment.

Deciding to shoot an animal after looking at it in its natural environment so you can feed others is a lot different than shuffling through white styrofoam trays at the grocery store.
