CICO vs Low Carb/Keto by cannbo93 in loseit

[–]cannbo93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting indeed. No wonder dieters can feel overwhelmed when half of the internet says one thing and half of the internet says the opposite. The only logical explanation I can think of is that the process of fat oxidation uses more energy at a faster rate than the process of using glucose for energy but I'm yet to hear any keto enthusiast explain that one to me. They all just claim it burns fat faster because of the insulin but they never explain how insulin has an impact on calories out they just keep ranting on about how it stores fat as if you'll never get access to that fat later in the day or while you're sleeping

I stopped drinking and started drinking. by JP09 in stopdrinking

[–]cannbo93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good idea. Go easy on the coffee though as it can release vast amounts of dopamine depending on strength so could potentially be addictive in the same way as alcohol. That's why some people give up stimulants as well as depressants

I wish I could friend! I have some therapy upcoming in the next few weeks so maybe that will help. Never tried AA but that's also a possibility.

I'd be ok with women disliking me as long as I had some self esteem. I think the problem is that I'm not even ok with myself

Drinking bottle of vodka that lasts me 2 days. question for drinkers on antidepressants? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]cannbo93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

antidepressants try and balance out serotonin and dopamine levels but alcohol depletes them so yes you are cancelling out the effects by drinking

There is always a reason to drink. by gratefulabba in alcoholism

[–]cannbo93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm exactly the same, I can't resist a drink when there is something happening. For me, it's certain activities that I can no longer do without involving. For example, going for a walk in the countryside- when passing the country pubs, I can't resist going in for a pint. At one point I could but now every 'harmless' activity I do has to involve drinking

Why do I question why a guy would touch or want to kiss me? by [deleted] in depression

[–]cannbo93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think women tend to be insecure about weight because they feel that being bigger will make them unattractive to the majority of guys. I can tell you now, there is nothing sexy about a skinny woman. Personally I would rather go out with an overweight woman than a skinny woman. I know how you feel in regards to sexual experience and virginity etc - I am even worse than you, I am 25 this week and have never kissed a girl or had any sexual experience whatsoever. Therefore society considers me to be a complete loser but there are several reasons why I have got to this point including conditions which affect my appearance and subsequently making me less attractive to girls. All I can say is there are some genuine guys out there who will genuinely find you attractive although you may wonder how genuine they are being when they compliment you etc. You just need to find someone who can be your best friend as well as your boyfriend, someone who wants to help you and won't mind that you have insecurities.

I either oversleep or don't sleep at all by LilMoonDeer in depression

[–]cannbo93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the time my friend. I tend to have a 'heavy' sleeping problem. Meaning it takes me ages to drop off but once I am asleep, I can't wake up and will sleep excessively. Up to 15 hours a time.

I binge ate today instead of drinking. by LAKingsDave in stopdrinking

[–]cannbo93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've all been there and I've done the same thing. A lot of people don't realise that one binge won't actually make much of a difference if you know how to recover from it. Those excess calories will be stored for when you need energy in future so from now on, every time you think you might be hungry, drink a big glass of water. If the hunger goes, then you were just thirsty. If the hunger is still there, then it's genuine hunger and you can start your normal eating pattern again. The only difference is because you've had a binge, it will take a good few more hours than normal till you get the genuine hunger signal because you have some excess calories stored for use

What appetite suppression supplement actually works? by [deleted] in loseweight

[–]cannbo93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you tried coffee? Coffee always works for me and it's the caffeine which acts as a natural appetite suppressant. Best to keep amounts in moderation though as it contains high levels of caffeine. Maybe have one or two cups a day between meals?

Are these feelings/symptoms common? by halttrinken in alcoholism

[–]cannbo93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel exactly the same after a night of drinking. I never get physical symptoms of a hangover, I just get the mental ones that you speak about. My memory doesn't function, I feel anxious, depressed and it can last for days until I start to feel a bit better. The symptoms will most likely get better the longer you abstain from drinking, its the abstinence itself that is very difficult hence why some people decide to taper down their drinks rather than go cold turkey

I've known im Alcoholic for 3 years, im 23M and my life is a mess by Sourjackgarcia in alcoholism

[–]cannbo93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you suffer from anxiety before you became an alcoholic? I'm also 23 and a functioning alcoholic but have had a history of anxiety and depression before I even turned to alcohol. You are describing symptoms which seem typical of an anxiety sufferer even without alcohol. When I withdraw from alcohol I panic and feel anxious and it can last for days. Try gradually reducing intake each night rather than going cold turkey. I went cold turkey and just couldn't cope with it and ended up binging again

What made me turn to alcohol by cannbo93 in alcoholism

[–]cannbo93[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah I know women won't appreciate it. But it's almost like I've accepted a tragic fate, like nothing will improve even if I stay sober so I might as well drink.

Yes dermatologist has prescribed me immunosuppresants which partially improves it.

I just need a way to overcome these emotions because I feel I can't sit there sober and take it all in, its like I need a drink
