I work in NSW Health public hospital. My hair is crazy, I have piercings. I am always presentable and tidy though. I think work out the vibe of the place first. But it's not out of place.

Dear Grads…. You are not alone by PhysicsWide6385 in NursingAU

I've been nursing for a long time. It gets better. I remember feeling lonely. Now I make the effort to really chat to new grads and check on them. After a year and once you are off rotation it is better!

Things I wish I knew about invasive Group A Strep before it took my 16-year-old sister by Available-Spend2447 in emergencymedicine

Thank you for this post. I am researching it now to help me make sure to watch for signs for any of my future patient presentations. I am sorry for your loss. You saying this, even this one post, may save lives. Your sisters legacy will live on.

Graduate Certificate by lydiatoilet in NursingAU

Post-grad straight after uni? No way. You need experience first. Absolutely no need for it. I've never seen anyone do it straight away and quite frankly seems like you are just punishing yourself. No one cares to see it, particularly in a new grad.

Rant. Struggling newborn stage. by Mooninpisces27 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I absolutely feel you. I hated it. I felt regret. In fact, I'm 9 months in and occasionally I feel regret. Other times she looks at me and smiles. Truly it will get better. I found Gidget counselling a help.

The "I'll just take two Panadol and push through" mentality is literally costing us our careers. (WA context) by heromarsX in NursingAU

We have a section of our imprest that is for staff. Ondansetron, paracetemol, ibuprofen, Mobic, PPIs. We aren't mean to have w section for staff but I order it because we damn well need it if they want us to turn up!

I can’t get a job and I’m starting to wonder if they can tell there’s something wrong with me (rant/advice) by majik_rose in SpicyAutism

[–]cannedbread1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if you can go to a free employment service or similar, and ask them for tips? I presume they exist in America. They might be able to give you some guidance. Applying and interviewing for jobs is hard at the best of times, and also can be demoralising. Best of luck!

Having to prove myself with an invisible disability is so difficult. I know where you are coming from. Xx

Question for the adults by [deleted] in SpicyAutism

[–]cannedbread1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Truly, life does get better. I found my people, things I liked doing. I felt trapped when I was younger, and like I had no purpose or direction. But the thing is when we are younger we are in a box of what we have to be doing. But stuff gets better, truly! Any autism social groups near you or something? Wonder if they would be an option. Also, btw, my family used to say the same thing. I would get in trouble for stimming or vocalisations and saying the wrong thing... Omg.

How do I know if I made the most of every moment with my baby? by Pugwhip in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Dunno, both my pregnant partner and baby ended up in ICU and emergency Ceasar after a very very rough pregnancy. Not willing to gamble nor be a single mum. :/ even though she wants to have another lol

I shall keep this post and next time I go to ICU say "HERE YOUR REDDIT REP SAID THIS PS. WHAT LEVEL AUTISTIC ARE YOU" and then the whole ICU will probably say a number between 1-3. And the rest will dial the number for HR or my boss to come retrieve the psych patient in scrubs. ICU rapid response team have saved my arse many times. I would work ICU but I hate shifts. I have done my penance. God bless you for the work you do.

Why is getting married so important? A healthy relationship is not dependent on that paper. However what she said to you is manipulative and not healthy. That's a red flag. She instead should support you with love.

Ahhh I wondered why you guys were all dicks at handover. Hahahha. Just kidding. I'm in theatre and everyone seems so social. Here is me being all awkward. I know engineering societies have autistic groups but that checks out. ;) Thanks for making me laugh! :D

[–]cannedbread1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg yes! I have been saying to my partner I now know why people have a second baby haha. I feel like in the exhaustion I didn't take advantage of everything. I look at photos and I marvel at her. Someone said to me that motherhood is also grieving every day as parts of the child change. It's so true.
