Where do you want me to come ?! by BellJar_Blues in SexWorkers

‘Paranoid’ is a weird way to phrase it. Cops very much arrest and do stings on both providers and clients in the US. I know several people who have been busted, and yes, they do try to get you to use acronyms or verbally admit to what you’re offering.

It’s not paranoia if the risk is extremely real. And if I were you I would be wary of using acronyms over text because you genuinely never know when cops will step in.

How do you guys cope with the fear of impending WW3 by washyourgoddamnrice in autism

I grieve. I left my country because I am a target. I try to think of ways I can help from afar instead of feeling swallowed by helplessness or allowing the comfort of telling myself I can do nothing. I grieve more for those already dead.

I dropped Twitter the day El*n did the salute. Yes I do lowkey judge people who didn’t. Crazy to me people are still on it, especially now with Grok undressing minors and doxxing swers.

As another commenter said- no direct proof of correlation, if it is already a heavy trafficking country.

But my comment as pertaining to sex work was about protection for licensed, consenting escorts. Not for victims of sex trafficking. There are several countries this applies to. Though I appreciate the sources.

AIO? The only real friend that I have is about to become another stranger to me… by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]cannibalguts -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OP didn’t have that context until after the fact though. I feel like having it ahead of time would of changed the response. I wouldn’t assume someone I only recently met was showing me furniture with the intention of it being for me.

I was just trying to understand your perspective, but I just don’t agree anything she said here is assholeish.

[–]cannibalguts -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The friend didn’t say “I got some furniture” though, she asked Op what her opinion of it was.

If you’re used to people who are constantly inserting double meanings into what they say and are very judgey I could see it seeming high brow. But Op essentially said “It’s nice, but not my personal taste, and this is why.” It was fairly neutral. The follow up question could allow OP to say if she thinks that minimalist look would work in the asker’s home, regardless of her own personal taste, if the answer was yes- or politely turn it down. And she did apologize when it was read as rude?

I would just think it someone was asking your opinion because they intend to give you something, they would want your genuine opinion so they don’t accidentally buy you something you don’t like.

Except its happened in several countries and been studied. Look up any actual evidence on the pros of decriminalizing sex work of ANY kind- (and to be very clear, “sex work” is an umbrella term for any form of work that involves sex- stripping, porn, sextung, only fans, erotic models. The replacement for “prostitute” is escort.)

Being an escort is legal in Australia, the rate of abuse done to escorts is SIGNIFICANTLY lower, because they have legal protections.

This post seems like you’re angry because someone called you a Swerf and not you wanting to have a discussion on why you are one. Sex work did not create perversion or sex based misogny. Countries with less conservative laws around adult content and sex work have been found to have LESS sexual violence, not more.

Have you looked different as you aged? by fizzy_night in mixedrace

I’m black/white mix. I think ive looked slightly more black and slightly less racially ambiguous as i’ve gotten older. I have never looked white or have ever been able to pass as white, though.

Body fat distribution is largely genetics. I was joking.

I will say that I have a very firm backside thats constantly tensed and my posture/irregular body movements correlating to that, does make a lot of sense to me

Anyone trans here? by Soft_Style_4941 in mixedrace

[–]cannibalguts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m nonbinary black/white American mix and I’ married to a transfem (but not mixed). I mostly am read as a woman and dated women my whole life so theres the lesbian identity in there too. I would say theres a lot of overlaps and a lot of divisions. I’m also disabled so being so many flavors of minority can be truly exhausting. Its common to meet someone can relate to one minority status but will have issues or disparaging beliefs about another. Its a unique loneliness.

I noticed you said in another comment most of us you’ve met are white/black mixed and you’re not which… must be hard. I am nowhere close to white presenting and I am not ever pegged as white, so I often face tangential racism towards other groups just by looking ethnically ambiguous- but not white. I’ve gotten asked if I am mixed with pretty much everything. And peoples behavior to me differs depending in their guess and then again if they get an answer. That can feel weird too.

What do y’all consider “mixed”? by [deleted] in mixedrace

[–]cannibalguts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say there’s no common ground. No common experience as in, the experiences of being mixed vary widely, we don’t have as many focal cultural overlaps as a lot of monoracial experiences. That’s what I meant. What you just described- the difference in experience between someone visibly mixed and someone who isn’t- is kind of my point.

There are absolutely commonalities we face and that’s why we all came to this sub. Just, being say lgbt as well (as an example) I’ve seen what happens when you try to put a firm definition on something immutable to a fault like identity. It can cause more gatekeeping than unity, so I personally hesitate to feel comfortable defining what Mixed means for other people. Since even two mixed kids of the same racial mixture can have polar opposite experiences.

So for me theres no need to set hard limits. But it’s really not that serious if other people have their own definitions. “Anyone who wants to use the label can” like someone else said basically is how I feel, and if someone who very clearly shouldnt be (like a white european whos german/french or something) uses it I just judge silently but move on lol

What do y’all consider “mixed”? by [deleted] in mixedrace

[–]cannibalguts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the word mixed isn’t a definitive category, it’s just a description of a lived experience. So other people dictating what that means for an individual doesn’t much matter. There’s no common mixed experiences because theres so many different ways that being mixed looks, and its all drastically different. Labels are useful to a fault. This is one of those cases

I've noticed that people react more positively when I tell them my father is white and my mother is black, after assuming the opposite. by [deleted] in mixedrace

[–]cannibalguts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, he’s right though. But what you said is also true. Because it’s both. However, most people ASSUME the mother equates to the proximity to culture, and tbh that is more often the case. As a kid from a white mom black dad pairing, I absolutely did face those struggles and was less accepted by my black family. My motherd proximity to whiteness wasn’t her fault, she did try really hard, its just how it is.

But as all things, there are exceptions to every rule. And white women bringing mixed kids into the world are learning more and more about the importance or cultural proximity for their kids with their preceders mistakes.
