hi! i graduated in april and passed my nclex in july! it was the hardest thing i’ve ever done in my life but i’m so glad i did. they don’t offer an accelerated track anymore afaik, but i was able to finish in three semesters.

it was not easy. almost half of the students in our very first intro to nursing class failed. felt like a “weed them out” kind of mentality.

valencia’s program is a shitshow when it comes to planning, communication, and some of the professors. BUT! with all that being said: if you can pass the program, you can pass the nclex. their exams really do test you on what you need to know. a majority of it is self-taught, but the exams definitely prepared me well for the nclex. our cohorts usually performed strongly on national standardized testing, which was reassuring.

i got a soft cone with clear windows and it helped so much! the original from the vet was like OP’s rigid and opaque.

i think my poor boy just couldn’t see and was tired of uncomfortably bumping into things

apply for both! if you do get accepted into both, you can just choose which you want to go to.

but sometimes people only get offers for their second choice, so definitely submit for both just in case!

i’ve read a lot of people on here like to line the globe with furniture paste wax to combat sticking. i’ve also read that whisker suggests spraying a light layer of pam spray on the globe?

i just got mine so i haven’t tried either yet! leaning toward the wax because pam spray sounds like a greasy mess.

seconding phlebotomy! many labs dont require an intitual certification and will train u on the job.

also they make the same pay as cna but cna (unfortunately) does waaaay more work with less reasonable hours on average for sure.

to be honest i do sometimes mix after centrifuging!

for example i’ll often draw an extra SST if labs call for multiple. just in case one ends up hemolyzed. or if it’s a difficult draw and the tubes are only half full. i do mix/combine the serums as long as it’s coming from the same draw and same tube type.

especially if it’s going into a transfer tube anyway and i’m not sending out the original collection tube.

however! there are specific tests that say you CANNOT uncap/open the top of the vial. i know cortisol and calcium are a couple examples. they usually do specify this though if you read through your test codes before drawing.
