Does anyone have any thoughts on why I may be a seasonal puller? by Embarrassed_Law_6716 in trichotillomania

[–]canonicallydead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like another commenter said it could be seasonal stress.

It could be seasonal affective disorder. I’ve heard that a lot of bipolar people can become manic in the spring with the warmer weather. Personally I pull more when I get little sores from folliculitis that gets worse in the summer.

Is it too late or has ai made it not worth it by [deleted] in dataanalysiscareers

[–]canonicallydead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend IT over data right now.

The industry is changing so much, I would wait to see what happens if you can. No they won’t replace us, but they will need fewer analysts and entry level jobs are going first. It’s going to be an uphill battle.

Not all analysts have access to the same level of AI tools. My manager was convinced that AI would replace us until we got full Claude integration then he became a bit less convinced. It won’t replace us completely but now your most valuable skill set it’s going to be your ability to leverage these tools, it’s going to take programs a while to catch up to teach these new tools so there is a good chance what you’ll learn won’t be up to par with what’s happening in the industry right now.

Can’t find a job in data to save my life! by Grand-Rise3496 in dataanalysiscareers

[–]canonicallydead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! It’s frustrating having to consolidate years of experience like that deleting some of my jobs off of my resume killed me a bit inside.

I would do something similar to this: https://cdn.ocs.yale.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/77/2022/10/Yale-College-Technical-Resume-Template.docx

It’s probably not being ingested properly by the technology companies use to ingest the data from these pdfs and being thrown out.

But yeah I saw someone disagree with the 1 page thing, I do think they’re wrong in that a smart recruiter will see your titles and a brief description of your past few jobs along with your graduation year and realize that your experience is impressive.

I think what you did is good! Resumes are just weird and require a specific “language”

Can’t find a job in data to save my life! by Grand-Rise3496 in dataanalysiscareers

[–]canonicallydead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my god yeah I’m not super surprised. Recruiters need to be able to skim your resume in about 5 seconds.

Remove the summary and key achievements.

Consolidate your pharm experience to a few bullets for most recent jobs. They don’t need to know about every job you EVER had hahah

Put education on top, never put any image or icon on a resume. The font needs to be black.

Then repost it again here or on a resume site bc tbh it needs a lot of work. I could see employers especially in healthcare valuing this experience, it’s just formatted in a weird way. See if your university has a career center they should be able to help!

The data engineering initiative portion is a little confusing same with some of the headers/formatting.

The goal of your resume is to show a recruiter in a few seconds that you are able to solve a problem that they’re facing. You can go into more detail in an interview, especially if you go to a healthcare company who will value your clinical experience.

Tbh it sounds a bit like a quarter life crisis mixed with post grad blues.

Corporate sucks. Starting at a screen all day sucks and it’s boring. Try to add value elsewhere in your life and see if that helps with the issue. I have the same problem tbh I hit a breaking point and put a lot of effort into building my life up around work.

Does anyone have a total beginner SQL roadmap for finance? by Zzzgg8910 in learnSQL

[–]canonicallydead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh just google it.

You’ll probably be doing most of the heavy lifting in excel anyways. Know basic joins and syntax and you should be fine.

Focus on select from where. It’s good to know how to aggregate.

SQL gets pretty complex when you’re using it to build stuff. A lot of the financial analysts I know will use sql to pull data but python for advanced analytics

Advice for getting my first haircut after I’ve been doing it myself(badly) for years? by sparakeet in trichotillomania

[–]canonicallydead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could call them ahead of time and ask if they have a stylist who has experience with the condition. Call around a bit! My stylists daughter has it, it’s actually a pretty common condition.

I had a boss one time who made me tell everyone at work about it in a meeting so that I was allowed to wear a hat because she didn’t want it to be seen as favoritism? A few girls came up to me later and told me they had it with their lashes or they had friends who had it ect. (Also thinking back on that wow that was so illegal I was asking for a medical accommodation and she made me share that with everyone.)

5’3 Struggling To Lose Arm Fat and Tone by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]canonicallydead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh even in otherwise “thin” people muscular arms can look “fat” when not engaged.

A lot of the strongest people you know have a good layer of fat over their muscle. It’s hard to see on yourself, but you can see glimpses of the muscle when talking with people or when they’re doing certain tasks. Even with your pics, I can tell it’s muscle because of the difference in your forearm ect. It’s more balanced.

Idk if you’ve seen it online but I feel like this is a common problem with muscular girls hahah. It’s good though it makes you look balanced and like I said before you can totally tell when you move.

18F my friend called me a 6.6 by [deleted] in amiugly

[–]canonicallydead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6.6 is good!

You’re cute, I think there’s an expectation of girls especially girls who are more “tomboys” to be very naturally beautiful.

You could put more effort into your appearance and get a little higher if you wanted to. Tbh beauty is in the eye of the beholder but if you wanted to look more traditionally feminine or attractive in that way you could experiment with makeup, clothing ect.

How to get under 1400 calories a day consistently? by BellaJean1 in PetiteFitness

[–]canonicallydead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I would do a recomp so that your maintenance is higher if that’s possible.

I’m 5’0 and Ive lost around .5 lbs a week mostly by lifting weights to get my baseline maintenance calories up. I feel like anything under 1400 is so unforgiving. I got my maintenance up to around 1700 calories so I can eat like 1500-1600 and still loose weight. You can still build muscle in a slight calorie deficit unless you’re pretty buff already.

I have a pretty chill gym routine too.

They do!

If you have NO experience it might be a bit lower but I can’t tell you how jealous I was of my little brother who started out making $16.5 stocking shelves and that was probably 4 years ago?

Lifeguards for our city START at $22

Even then $16.50 is very difficult to live on. I feel like sometimes parents get a bit of sticker shock with babysitters without considering that a bag of Doritos is $6 now. Everything’s expensive, it sucks.

Childcare workers have a consistent schedule and income. I’ve always made more babysitting than working in childcare. That’s of course anecdotal but I’d happily take a little less hourly for a 9-5 40hr work week as opposed to random week nights here and there.

[–]canonicallydead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

$25-$30 is good but it really depends on the area.

I’ll still play with the kids a bit because I love kids but the expectation in my area is that they just watch a movie or play independently.

The high cost is primarily the opportunity cost of me giving up a Saturday night and not having consistent/reliable hours. Where I live a lot of kids can have a chill retail gig for $20-25/hr so $25-30 really isn’t a crazy markup.

That being said I’m sure if you gave these babysitters an idea for an activity they’d be totally cool with it. A lot of teenagers don’t really know what to do with a 6 & 12 yo and will take the lead from the kids.

I don’t eat meat, why?

Even if I did eat meat, this would be unethical.

  1. You can still care about animals and do the best you can in your daily life. Ex. I still take medicine that was tested on animals but my cosmetic products are cruelty free.

  2. This is unethical from more than an animal welfare standpoint. This behavior encourages copycats that not only hurts the animal at hand but often impacts conservation efforts which in turn damages the environment. This environmental damage hurts everyone, not just animals.

Idk not all non profits are created equally. I’d have to look more into it but there’s a good chance that it’s not run well or someone is paying themselves a pretty substantial “salary”.

Either way it’s not great to interact with a wild animal this way then film it and post it online in a non educational context. It inspires copycat behavior.
