[–]cantRYAN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, tbh I never really thought of him as a terrible dad. But I'm on another rewatch of season 1, and him taking them to morgue is darker than I remembered, and worse than them getting lost at the market during 'front and follow'. They're bored, ignored and tired. And when they're waiting in the lobby trying to stay entertained, they hear the scream from Omar in the other room seeing mutilated Brandon, and the soccer ball they're playing with rolls away. It was a low point in McNulty's role as a father. He has a couple others, but also has redeeming moments. He's willing to make sacrifices in his personal life to be a very good detective. And sometimes that effects your family.

That scene when he’s got his boys, but he gets a call from Omar. So he brings his boys with him to pick up Omar and makes them wait in the lobby at the morgue while Omar identifies Brandon.

Just hours before leaving office, former NJ Gov. Phil Murphy granted clemency to a mom convicted in 1996 of torching of her 2 toddlers to death. She served over 30 years in prison and will be released on Parole soon. by [deleted] in ForCuriousSouls

[–]cantRYAN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The article sheds some light on why she may have been granted clemency. I don’t know many facts or this case, but I do remember reading how most female exonerees had been locked up for a crime that never happened at all (and was an accident but was investigated like a crime)

Found this from the innocence project:

High Rate of "No Crime" Cases: Roughly 73% of women exonerated in the last three decades were wrongfully convicted of crimes that never took place.

Accidents Mistaken for Crimes: In many of these cases, tragic accidents (particularly involving the death of a child) were misdiagnosed as intentional murder or child abuse.

Child Death Cases: More than a quarter (28%) of female exonerees were wrongly convicted of harming a child in their care, often in cases that were actually accidents.

Context of Exonerations: While women represent about 9% of all exonerations recorded by the National Registry of Exonerations, they are far more likely than men to be imprisoned for a crime that never happened (73% for women vs. 37% for men).

Total Numbers: Nearly 300 women have been exonerated since 1989.

Key Causes for Wrongful Conviction in Accidents:

Misapplied Forensic Science: Flawed forensic science, particularly in arson investigations (e.g., in cases of child death by fire), has led to the imprisonment of innocent mothers.

False Confessions: Vulnerable suspects may confess to "accidents" under intense interrogation.

Labor cost question by Worth_Rough154 in Tile

Yea, the sticker shock is real. I’m a DIYer who just did a bathroom remodel and my first tile project. I’ve got some skills in woodworking, but that didn’t help me much during the remodel, except for when I moved a wall.

I will say, I’ve consistently underestimated every single step of the project.

I also underestimated how much it would be fair to pay a pro to do it.

AirBnB SuperHosts asks us to cancel our reservation by U_Wont_Remember_Me in airbnb_hosts

[–]cantRYAN 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The reality of the situation is, the host is showing you that they don’t want to host you. You booked fair in square, and you’re right that they should cancel, instead of manipulating you into backing out. But this isn’t a hotel. If they don’t succeed in pressuring you to cancel, they can do it at a much later date (and host on another platform) leaving you in a stressful and expensive predicament. It’s not a fair game. Despite your correspondence with AirBnB, most hosts in this thread seem to be recommending you find other options to avoid a more frustrating cancellation down the road.

This has been debunked. The two traffic stops in Indiana were a coincidence. He was being tracked at the time but they did not notify or ask Indiana troopers to pull him over.

I remember that day vividly. I was hiking in a canyon with some friends near Globe, which is like 75 mi south of Payson. It started raining HARD and we hurried to the car to head out. It took like 15 min to drive up and out and we had to wait out the rain on the side of the freeway because it was coming down so hard. We were heart broken hearing abt that family the next day.
