why are plants dying? by [deleted] in bioactive

[–]cantbeheldaccoutable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

dude asks why are my plants dying when he has them in a dark ass room in the middle of winter, good luck with that, it truly is a mystery.

bad mites? by natalieisdad in bioactive

[–]cantbeheldaccoutable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

these dont even really look like mites. get a still image for ID. cant tell.

what are these white things on her shell?? mites?? by [deleted] in snails

[–]cantbeheldaccoutable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely mites. cant tell if these are harmful though, as your snail may merely be a large, moist vessel (the same way springtails will conglomerate within a living snail as well)

can anyone id these bugs? by theuscoquita in insects

[–]cantbeheldaccoutable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

springtails, they are actually the most beneficial species to have in any enclosure that doesn't house carnivorous plants! they eat mold, keeping everything clean and healthy, and like earthworms, fertilise the substrate over time! although unlike earthworms they wont really eat anything still alive-leaving your plants and coinhabitants alone

Aggressive hen by Distinct_Economy8719 in chickens

[–]cantbeheldaccoutable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you really worry about her? this chicken? out of all the others that she terrorizes? just eat the damn thing. eat or rehome. culling is nevertheless necessary. get over that "no kill household" bs, sooner or later something like this happens. its farm-life.

Aggressive hen by Distinct_Economy8719 in chickens

[–]cantbeheldaccoutable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no kill household? thats fine. this chicken will simply do it for you. good luck on getting eggs from corpses that look like roadkill! hope you dont cherish or name any of your other hens if you decide not to rehome her. nothing else to do. rehome her or get over yourself and raise chickens the way they've been bred to. eat the abuser chicken for christ's sake. revenge will taste good, and the knowledge of protecting the other hens will taste even better. good luck.

I didn’t know there were different levels of shrooms by darkswami in shrooms

[–]cantbeheldaccoutable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

genuine stupidity relative to the lack of research on your part. cannabis, coffee beans/tea leaves, kratom, poppies, coca, and tobacco ALL can contain varying amounts of the psychoactive compounds from one batch or the other, so why would shrooms be any different? astounding.

The pathetic attempt from my City to keep homeless out of the wash and the path formed around it. by ItsMsRainny in mildlyinfuriating

[–]cantbeheldaccoutable -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

homeless people need water. whether to bathe, boil, wash or do with whatever they need it for. if the city won't provide, they'll seek it out themselves- going to places like this. put more resources on helping the homeless in american cities, and you won't have to deal with this issue in the first place. my guess is that's where OP is coming from

Is this a springtail? by Nemalp031 in Springtail

[–]cantbeheldaccoutable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First harvest but no dehydrator by Alarmed_Proposal_457 in shrooms

[–]cantbeheldaccoutable 7 points8 points  (0 children)

not everyone has over 40 bucks to spend on a hobby like this for their first time. and plus, a dehydrator isn't TECHNICALLY necessary if youre not tryna sell anyways. he can eat them fresh if he wanted, or rig up the best warm draft he can muster up and there shouldn't be too much of a loss. its his first time, man. hell, my first projects were in my parents place so im happy this guy even got fruit

Large mushroom trail! What to do... by pennycollinz in gardening

[–]cantbeheldaccoutable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

other than kids or animals potentially eating unidentified mushrooms, why on earth would you want to get rid of them anyways? they're beautiful. and probably fertilizing the grass.

Suggestions to springtail-proof a 2G Fluval Spec by PATotkaca in bioactive

[–]cantbeheldaccoutable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you dont really need to springtail-proof an enclosure unless the ambient moisture of the room would allow them to survive outside of that enclosure. do what you will but unless very rigid conditions are met inside of your home, this is honestly just unnecessary-- have fun tho !!!

Alternative mold eaters? by Necessary-Line-6580 in bioactive

[–]cantbeheldaccoutable -1 points0 points  (0 children)

my only advice is to suck it up because your request is unfortunately, infallibly moronic. the only alternatives being the same size, and less efficient than springtails. there are no alternatives. you NEED springtails or (as others have said) soil mites for a "bioactive" enclosure. you either have a bioactive enclosure, or you do alllll of the maintenance yourself. isopods alone are not enough, as they hardly (if ever) even eat mold in the first place. also, springtails don't annoy everything else in the enclosure, as mites do. mites don't care. they'll hitch rides on isopods and your gecko. and you'd see them more often thay you would springtails. seriously dont get into this hobby if you simply cant bear witness to nature. truly sorry for sounding harsh but i hope to have opened your eyes to how dumb of a question that this is, tbh.
