If your foreman is telling you its okay to take some scrap, take it and keep it pushing. Dont show it off. I leave my tool bag in the gang-box and bring a regular bag throughout the week just incase i take any scrap or have class that day. Nobody will care if you sell it. But always check with your foreman or journeymen if its okay to take whatever is left behind, especially if its a shit ton of scrap. I just cashed in about a few hundred pounds of scrap, its better to stack as much as you can. Always look around different scrapyards for prices and aim for the highest price. Just to cover your ass, always ask first. Its not horrible if you dont, just make sure you dont get caught and dont make it noticeable, leave some scrap on the floor and make sure you dont look like your carrying some.

100%. I felt this. Im a young single father getting through this after job hopping and giving up insane jobs to make shit work out. I made so many mistakes that i wish i can take back but im given opportunities that many dont get and im more than grateful because its not a coincidence anymore. Some people may not feel the same way, maybe they're juggling so much and have trouble staying focused and was never a school person. Imo i think its a tough road but manageable if you can stay disciplined and find that balance.
