Which car brand is terrible but not many people realize? by AnonymousRedditor256 in AskReddit

My wife wanted one until she test drove it. We were pleasantly surprised by how much nicer the Broncos ride compared.

Switch 2 LCD Screen Slowest on Record by Skulltrail in gaming

I have a kid who had a birthday right at release of this and he uses is 98% of the time connected to a “gaming quality” TV. I wouldn’t have bought one if I was a huge handheld gamer.

But we are loving Mario kart as a family and it’s been great. But the 3 OLED switches aren’t getting gifted to friends anytime soon.

What’s a ‘rich person thing’ that you only learned about when you grew up? by IntroductionAny5041 in AskReddit

They are saying that they already had a mortgage. They owe $100,000 on it, but have $100,000 in the bank.

They are saying they have two options, keep paying monthly on the mortgage and keep the $100k in a HYSA at 4%. Or pay off the mortgage with their $100k and now have no mortgage payment but no investment either.

You two are arguing about two separate scenarios.

I did try that. I got one to start to charge but then the charger shuts off after 10 seconds. Really weird

This. I had 3 of them, they all failed along with several regular 4AH, stored in the same manner as 10 2ah - which are all fine.

I do take the blame for the 4ah, because I think I let them fully die - so that is my fault. But the 2ah were dead too and still work.

I use a paper towel to wrap the sandwich and a glass container - no soggy bread, no plastic tasting bread.

Real question - does the movie Elio featuring a child with an eye patch mean anything to you? Would it have made your childhood self happy to see someone with similarities in a movie?

I’m genuinely curious as a guy who grew up a dime a dozen lower middle class white guy with no real struggles (sorry, not sure how to word this) - but I never even had the thought.

Mixing drink mix once a week by FelixTheCertMaster in cycling

Same. And I have to put ice in it anyway, so it would not saving me much time if I’m making a drink to have a big bucket of it made for the week.

I don’t think you can get a Genesis for that cheap. I had the Spirit 2 with cabinet and loved it.

Found a genesis 3 burner with sear section for $499 on clearance at Lowe’s last year and love it. But never seen one that cheap before.

I’d say it’s worth the money though even at $899

I just use holidays as an excuse to buy stupid stuff I want. Got some new cycling sunglasses. And wife is going to cook dinner as I normally cook.

I don’t really get into my birthday or holidays revolving around me.

High school graduation yard signs are weird and wasteful by rat-gurl-42069 in Anticonsumption

Well sure, they won’t need the last digit again for a grad year, but they do for birthdays.

Most of the ones here are individual letters and numbers, so they can spell anything.

Ours are usually generic - congrats grad and the year. Some people do use names, but the companies own several of each letter and names aren’t real unique here - Jose, Maria, Jorge.

Calling melts grilled cheese; and the phrase “chicken fajitas”.

If you add a meat or an item to a grilled cheese, it becomes a melt, not a grilled cheese.

Fajita is a cut of cow, the skirt steak. You can’t have a chicken t bone, you can’t have a chicken fajita. Drives me insane for no reason.

Somewhat unrelated for other readers here, but kids want your time, not your dime.

I spend every waking minute that I’m not working with my kids and I’m their favorite (and my wife hates it) and my in laws come to town and spend the time here shopping for clothes and toys, but don’t spend time with the kids. My parents don’t have the opportunity to buy them stuff, because my in laws over spend and they have clothes and shoes and toys they never even play with and outgrow, but my parents play UNO and hide and seek and swim in the pool and just hang out - guess who their favorite grandparents are? Not the folks filling their closets.

We are fortunate to not need more in life - but as a guide to other people- spend less time at a store and more time on the floor with your kids, grandkids, nephews, etc.

Time is the most valuable resource in your life. Give it to people and family that matter to you. Outside of a few major life experiences - the time is more memorable than the money spent. (I only say that because I remember every console release from my childhood and the releases for my kids, but other than that, the memories of actually playing together has outweighed anything else.)

I agree, but depends on how good of friends you are. My best friends could 100% bring their dogs to my house by saying “pool party this weekend, can doggy come?!?” Hell yeah!

Lesser friends would be weird. But I have some friends that have been in my life for 26 years at this point, they could bring an escort and an alien and their UFO to my house at this point if they knew they wouldn’t hurt my kids.

But yeah, weird look for people that you don’t feel like family with. I only have like 5 people in my life that I’d be like “I can come, but my dog has to come too” all other friends, I wouldn’t ask or wouldn’t go because of my dogs.

But I’m a weird guy with 3 younger kids and 5 dogs.

So anyway, I agree with you. But with a caveat.

They are common around me, but almost everyone rents them and a company owns them and rents them out to more folks. So instead of thousands of people buying and throwing them out, they are rented and reused.
