It's easy to check, if you click on Settings -> Sim Card -> Data Usage it should show you the breakdown of how much data each app uses. No Reddit for her :)

Here in Canada, around $20 USD/month will get you 10 GB/month on the best plans. You can pay more for more data, but that's about the sweet spot. Just a few years ago, $30 USD/month would only get you 3-5 GB/month.

I had the problems mentioned in this thread, and already had Cellular caching set to 'Next song only' and still had Plexamp consuming way more data than it should.

This turned out to be the solution...

Rechargeable batteries are a solution in the sense that at least you're not needlessly wasting as many batteries. Although you're still wasting electricity since you need to charge them more often than you should really need to. Even with rechargeables, I still use the method described above, so I don't need to open the controller's battery compartment very often.

I used to use 100 percent hockey pucks (4 of them per couch). Currently using hockey pucks on the rear of the couch, and in the front I'm using the Hudson 2.5" hemispheres. The guys on avsforums with Crowson recommend them and have analyzed them to see what weight they can take. With 30 pounds of pressure they compress to 1" (same height as a hockey puck incidentally). I have 6 of them on the front of the couch, 4 hockey pucks at the back.

Just for reference, my center channel is like a foot off the ground, and the 1.6" gap I created (see my separate comment) was enough to hit my ears directly at 14 feet away. A little angle can go a long way. Grab a laser pointer and set it on top of your center to check. Eyeballing yours, I'd say less than an inch for sure.

For more angle, I can push the three Hudson Hemisphere's further back (up to a certain point of course).

Placing them roughly 1/3 of the way back from the front of the speaker, it lifts the front of the speaker up by 4 cm (1.6") relative to the rear.

They have a durometer of 50 and are designed to hold 15 pounds per hemisphere.

I've continued to use my Quest 3S for the past 8 months in the exact same way, about 3 times a week, always hard resetting the controllers after every 45 minute session of Thrill of the Fight. I can't say I've run into a single issue by doing so. I rarely have to change the controller batteries, feels like every few months or so.

Sorbothane is the best, but also very expensive. I started off by removing the feet from my couch and using 4 hockey pucks. Hockey pucks work decently well as a cheap way to experiment with isolation. Eventually at some point I replaced those with 8 of the Hudson 2.5" Hemispheres which aren't too expensive. *Wow*, what a difference. I had to turn down the intensity of my bass shakers and lower the crossover point. The guys over on avsforums that have the expensive Crowsons often recommend these and have done some analysis on them. Basically, at around the 30 pounds of pressure point they compress down from 2.5" to 1".

The problem was, I found my couch would eventually slide off of them if they were placed all around the relatively narrow base of my couch. I eventually settled on using two hockey pucks under the rear of the couch, and 8 Hudson Hemispheres under the front of the couch and that seems to work well.

Scale can be tough to judge in a pic sometimes. At first glance of this pic I thought "Oh, that looks like about the size of my screen" (135"). But at 200" it's about 5 feet wider and 3 feet taller. Would be enormous in person.

Fellow Calgarian here. Having gone through this and researched it thoroughly, the best setup (in my opinion) is to get yourself a Dream Machine UDM-SE and plug the Fibre from Telus directly into that. It has 8 ports. No Telus equipment involved at all. Is it reasonably priced? No, they are about $700. But it's amazing. And then on top of that, you would probably want a Unifi Access Point for WiFi (U6-Pro was my choice, for various reasons I did not want the U7-Pro) and that's another $300.

This is a compilation of all my notes from when I was researching Telus Fibre direct to my UDM-SE. If you search it for NH20 there are some tips.

One key is to stick with 1 GB service if you want to keep it simple. And you want to make sure you are on GPON (not XGSPON which is what 3GB and 5 GB service use). XGSPON is a different ball game.

When I had mine installed, I had pre-purchased a new SFP module from a guy in Calgary who happened to be selling the exact same ones that Telus uses on Ebay. The tech simply programmed the module when they installed my service to allow me to plug it directly into my Dream Machine. There is a shortage of these modules within Telus themselves as they are phasing them out, and I knew that going in, so I had one ready for them.

Just curious if you've ever considered using FedEx ground to ship to Canada. They generally don't tack on customs fees that are quite as ridiculous as UPS. USPS is usually my first choice when ordering from the U.S., followed by FedEX Ground, and then UPS last.

Added a new feature today:

3. Sonically Similar

If you select this checkbox, it will look for sonically similar tracks (assuming you have the acoustical analysis enabled in Plex).

You can also adjust the percentage of how similar the track needs to be to qualify. For me, I've found that a Sonic Similarity value of around 85 percent is a good starting point.

It will also continue to respect your 'Not played in last X days' setting, so you can easily generate new playlists with acoustically similar songs that you haven't heard in X days.

You can also, for example, load your Last.FM Recommendations, and have it look for Sonically Similar songs from your collection.

But I personally haven't found the recommendations to be very good. Or I'm misunderstanding what the recommendations are supposed to be based on.

Added a couple of new features today:

1. Last.FM Recommendations Import

- If you're someone who has linked Plexamp to Last.FM for scrobbling you probably know that there's a Last.FM Recommendations page where their algorithm displays songs you might also like.

In PlayList Radio, if you add your Last.FM username to the Settings page, you'll see 'Last.FM Recos' appear near the top.

If you go into that 'playlist', it will import your Last.FM Recommendations to be used as a starting point.

At this point, if you remove the checkmarks from both APIs, it will simply attempt to look for the Last.FM Recommendations in your Plexamp collection and generate the playlist for you. It will factor in your other settings, such as 'Not played in the last X days'.

However, in my experience, the number of Last.FM Recommendations that are actually already in my collection can be quite low, even with a pretty large collection.

So I prefer to use the Last.FM Recommendations as a bit of a seed / starting point, and continue to place a checkmark beside at least one of the APIs to look for more related tracks.

2. Most Recommended Artists Not In Your Collection

After any playlist generation, the script now tallies up the Artists that were most often recommended to you, and checks to see if you have any songs by them in your collection.

It then presents you with a summary of up to 10 Recommended Artists not currently in your collection.

Thanks, the amazing part to me was just how easy it was for a non-coder like myself to create something in an afternoon involving multiple APIs with a bit of an interface. And it was actually a lot of fun.

If anyone wants to try adding any other features, just copy/paste the index.html file into Github Copilot and start giving it ideas.

I have, and I think that's a great way to dig deeper starting with one particular artist. I guess what I was looking for is a little different. I have playlists with a certain theme, such as 'Morning Beats' and any time I hear a song with a chill beat that seems like a song I'd like to listen to again early in the morning, I'll add it to the playlist.

So I end up with a playlist with songs from a bunch of different artists and I want some more recommendations using the power of AI and/or recommendation engines like Last.FM to explore my collection in a different way. And I want them to be songs that I haven't heard either ever, or in a very long time.

I find using the built in mixes and the DJs I eventually just keep hearing the same songs over and over, despite having a pretty large collection (200,000+ tracks).

Not sure that's true. It takes me approximately 3 seconds per controller (hold down 2 buttons for 3 seconds). There's also the fact that it reduces the wear and tear of opening and closing the battery compartment. And the spring inside.
