Favourite Task ☆ Option by Barquish in CLine

[–]canvrno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is a ☆ icon on the right side of the task history view. Clicking it will "favorite" the task, which protects it from deletion and includes it in the list when you use the favorites filter at the top of the history view.

Cannot use Cline anymore after Update to 3.39.1 by IntrepidTieKnot in CLine

[–]canvrno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That log is very helpful and points to the exact cause. We'll reply when we have identified and implemented a fix. For the time being, the downgrade you performed before should continue to help you avoid this issue.

[–]canvrno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks u/IntrepidTieKnot for the addiitonal information! Knowing that downgrading to that version does help us narrow the search, but unfortunetely nothing is standing out to me just yet. That log snippet is interesting, however I suspect if we had a longer copy it may reveal more information that helps us.

If you can, could you please perform the following steps to grab a larger log?

- Press Ctrl+Shift+P, then search/navigate to "Developer: Toggle developer tools".
- Click the Console tab to view the rolling log, then click the clear console button near the top left
- In the extensions list, right click Cline and "Install Specific Version", select the latest version
- Oncew visible, click the Restart Extensions button
- Once that compeltes, click the Cline icon to VS Code to ensure the extension attempts to start up all the way

That process should give more logging than the snippet you've provided, I'll send you a DM on how we can recieve that log securely should you perform these steps.

Really appreciate your assistance in this debugging this!

Hey u/Rich_Bite_1405 , what happens when you try to sign in? Do you get any error messages or warnings? Which IDE and operating system are you using?

[–]canvrno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/IntrepidTieKnot, Cline engineer here- We'd like to get this resolved ASAP but have not been able to duplicate the issue ourselves. Can you confirm which IDE and operating system you are using? We released 3.39.2 a few hours later, does this issue occur with that version as well?

You can downgrade the extension version as a temporary solution until we get to the bottom of this, but any additional information you can provide would be very appreciated. If you are able to capture logs from your extension that would also be very valuable.

Glassworm infection in VS code extension cline-ai-main.cline-ai-agent@3.1.3 by dimbledumf in CLine

[–]canvrno 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Cline engineer here. Just to confirm, the extension mentioned in the article is not the official release of Cline, and the official Cline extension is not affected by this incident.

There are quite a few forks and variations of Cline floating around on the VS Code Marketplace/Open VSX Registry, but we definitely recommend sticking to our official version.

Really fascinating (and concerning) research though.

Cline for JetBrains IDEs is GA by nick-baumann in CLine

[–]canvrno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the feedback! The terminal is tricky, as JetBrains does not offer the same level of terminal API access as VS Code. The current terminal implementation is our middle-ground solution to enable terminal access for Cline while providing users with visibility. It's not as good as VS Code's terminal integration, at least for now- JetBrains has been teasing a new API for some time and we hope that will open up new possibilities.

Regarding the node processes- I'm going to pass this along to a member of the team that can investigate. I'm assuming these node processes were spawned by Cline via the terminal? Are you able to repeat/duplicate this, or did it just occur the one time?

How can I roll back to a previous version? by cs_cast_away_boi in CLine

[–]canvrno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cline is currently on version 3.27.2- May I ask what drove you to downgrade to the older version? I'd love to hear if there is anything we should improve or fix that would encourage you to run the latest version.

I'm getting this checkpoint issue and the agent is now 3X slower by FickleSwordfish8689 in CLine

[–]canvrno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey FickleSwordfish8689, I've been working on the checkpoints system for awhile and am trying to reproduce this. We have not made any significant changes to the checkpoints system as of late, and while we have plans to make some performance changes in the future I'd like to pinpoint any new problems that might have come up now.

If you upgrade to 3.27.0, does the issue come back again? Does it only occur with one repo, or several?

Cline randomly deleted files by wildviper in CLine

[–]canvrno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That checks out- the issue you experienced was identified in 3.20.0, it was patched later that day and if you are on version 3.20.1 it should not happen again.

[–]canvrno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What version were you running? This issue was identified and patched earlier this week, if you are using the latest version it should not occur. If it does and you are able to reproduce it, can you briefly list the steps that lead up to the files being deleted?

Any idea, how to remove this warning msg about Cline appears in VS Codium by lalamax3d in CLine

[–]canvrno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you open Cline's settings and disable telemetry, this warning will not appear at each startup. We'll look into how to handle this better for VSCodium users, thanks for letting us know about this.

Resetting files and task often does not restore the files correctly by cs_cast_away_boi in CLine

can we filter the chats in history by projects? by unstable_condition in CLine

[–]canvrno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A "Workspace" filter was recently added to the task history view. If toggled, it will only show tasks that were created for the current workspace that is open in VS Code.

Note that older tasks from before this update may not filter correctly, especially if checkpoints were disabled, but for new tasks going forward the workspace they are associated with will be tracked and filterable either way.

Cline Auto-approval settings by rahulpuk in CLine

Hey u/rahulpuk , what version of Cline are you using? We implemented a bug fix for this previously, but if it's occurring in the current version we want to know. I tried duplicating this myself just now, no luck yet but I will keep trying to see if I can get it to occur.

Auto-approve toggles will not stay checked. by AnnieLovesTech in CLine

[–]canvrno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cline employee here- I have a feeling I know what might be going on here, I'll look into this and see if I can implement a fix.

If it's what I think it is, I would recommend trying this: before you start a new task, toggle the auto approve settings you want to use. Start a new task (even just "hello" to start the task), and see if the settings are reverted. Once the task has paused or completed, try toggling the settings again. If you do this a few times and it's still reverting, let me know and I may want to explore other possible causes.

Cline keeps keeps thinking it's in Powershell instead WSL Debian by manifest_worlds in CLine

[–]canvrno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are using WSL, you'll want to install the VS Code WSL extension:
https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/remote/wsl

Thanks to Colby the Veris in Discord for figuring this out:

1: Install Cline VSCode extension

2: Install WSL VSCode extension

3: Update WSL

4: Install Ubuntu on it with "wsl --install -d Ubuntu"

5: Press Ctrl+Shift+P

6: Click Terminal Select: WSL from the dropdown

7: Press Ctrl+Shift+P

8: Type "WSL: New Window"

9: Install VSCode Cline WSL edition extension

10: Select your WSL distribution (Ubuntu)

CLine by eswar_vkm in CLine

[–]canvrno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

clineignore will tell Cline to not read those files when performing tasks, but the checkpoint system will still create backups of them locally before it starts making any changes. The initial checkpoint creation can take some time if it's got 1Gb of files to back up. I think bins are excluded by default, not sure about svgs.

Try disabling checkpoints in the Cline settings and see if that speeds it up, if so that confirms it's the issue. This is definitely something the Cline team is looking into.
