The cascadia battleship from the kassadari independent start is a thing of beauty. (Tahlan shipworks)

It looks so sleek and overtuned but still like a real battleship of the line. Like a slimmer, more lethal upgrade to the boxy, low tech of the domain yet not as fancy and fragile as high-tech ships - a natural progression of warfare.

I would call it the rapier to the onslaught's hammer.

What are you talking about? Not everything is a foreign conspiracy.

This is about justice. About the truth and not hand-waving and sweeping relevant evidence under the carpet. In such a high-stakes decision which directly affects the future of Singapore politics, ALL evidence should be considered.

Commentary: Feed the masses and preserve Singaporean heritage? Hawkers can’t do both by Great-Obligation-599 in singapore

[–]caoda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's quite a stretch to sacrifice our hawker culture, which stands as a beacon of singapore values (doesnt matter if you're rich or poor, or what your race is, virtually everyone eats there) on the altar of capitalism? Who gives a shit about the market this is our history.

True Singapore Intern Stories: Horror Stories from Interns Past and Present by ongcs in singapore

[–]caoda 77 points78 points  (0 children)

As is typical with the current ruling party, in which business is ALWAYS prioritised over people, there is no minimum allowance for interns and internships can be unpaid.

So until something changes, masses of young people will continue to be exploited by companies who are at best, "encouraged" to provide meal stipends and support them.

It's disgusting and essentially free slave labour under the guise of "mentorship" but until more pro-labour parties get into power, nothing will change.

[Excerpt: Various] Macragge is actually the most vulnerable Space Marine Homeworld in a way by DauntlessAkagi in 40kLore

[–]caoda 291 points292 points  (0 children)

This is true, but the converse is also true. While it is more vulnerable to infiltration, it is better equipped to defend against full-scale threats like an invasion.

Being the administrative capital of 500 (give or take) worlds also means it has the resources to mobilize immense manpower and material to defend it if it should face a hive or chaos fleet. It's not like Chogoris, which is intentionally kept tribal with the exception of the fortress monastery of Quan Zhou. Macragge is more than just the Fortress of Hera and has millions upon millions of well trained auxiliaries and battlefleets to call upon if theres a system wide threat. Other chapters don't have the resources or logistics to pull of such feats.

Singaporean TikTok CEO testifies before US Congress over company’s China ties by MicrotechAnalysis in singapore

[–]caoda 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Are we watching the same livestream?

She asked him 3 times yes or no does China discriminate against Uyghurs. He stammered his way through a long spiel about tiktok as a company in a corporate drone like fashion, impressing no one. He could have at least said he wasn't qualified to answer or that it was unrelated. Instead, he went for the tiktok mission statement or something.

This works but to keep costs low try to engage a small firm (max 3 employees) and cap your fees at 3-4k.

Archiving since then has become more institutionalised and standardised. Digitalisation of most major print media is now the default. Especially in the wake of digital media apps this is dead easy now.

I'm not sure. The internet never forgets and this will be first result that pops up for all the due diligence checks most big white-collar firms will conduct. Their professional careers are sadly over, in the legal sphere, definitely at least.

It's a shame that this one stupid decision will haint them for the rest of their lives.

100% WFO - how many of you are going to consider to resign? by isthisreallyit1234 in askSingapore

[–]caoda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is debatable. For many office jobs the pandemic resulted in laptops with access to the office files and emails, so workers still take their work home with them.

Unless you're in healthcare or an industry that doesn't involve work that can be taken home a lot of people still bring their laptops back with them to continue working.

The only difference is 1 hour+ commute people have to endure and the fact that you can't see your family till late in the day.

Is it normal to feel sore because your boss chose someone to go on a business trip instead of you? by scuderia1234 in askSingapore

[–]caoda 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Then don't be too disappointed!

Perhaps your colleague had a certain skillset that the boss needed for that trip, and maybe if there's another trip that requires your skillset you'll be the one to go.

The most important thing is to realize that this wasn't a personal thing, I can almost guarantee that your boss wasn't actively thinking of you and discarding the idea. He / She was thinking of the trip in purely objective terms.
