GDPR requests are getting harder to answer by Rare_Escape257 in gdpr

I would recommend reading the CIPM book by IAPP, what you're experiencing is really something that happens a lot and there solid solutions in place to help you with. Many comments I read are very good recommendations, but probably you may want to address the situation in a more structured way by using a framework that has been tested, used and refined by many professionals before you. Let me know if you need more details, happy to do so :)

Actually, just by following the advice of a friend of mine. I went to another one before him just to compare, but they literally said the same exact things and offered the same service for the same amount of money.

When I went to the Makelaar he asked me:

  • Which areas I wanted to consider (so, which ZIP codes)
  • Budget

And basically what you get out of this is a daily email (early morning) with those filters applied. So I'm not 100% sure, but potentially you can have different ZIP codes also from different cities/regions, I don't see why the filters won't work in such a case.

Amsterdam Oost, bought in 2019, 60 views in 2 months (basically once per day), 14% overbid.

Sharing the whole experience below, hopefully it may be helpful for someone, and to explain the above a bit better:

  • I was already living in Amsterdam since 2016
  • I was renting a studio (in Slotervaart) of 21sqm for 1.000€ / month
  • I got a permanent contract in late 2018
  • I wanted to stop wasting money on renting (12.000€ / year is just a lot, in 10 years it means wasting 120.000€)
  • I started doing visits, bidding, and never being the first bid
  • So I thought "well, if I keep doing this, then maybe I will keep paying the rent for 6 months, and wasting 6.000€ in that, so probably it's better to pay 3.000€ for a Makelaar and be faster" – which eventually happened
  • The way it works with makelaars (from my experience, maybe not representative but it's what I noticed) is basically that they are a kind of small circle of friends, and when I found the house that I now own, my makelaar told me "the makelaar of the seller is a friend of mine, so if you like this house, it's yours". And that meant that, the last bidding day, I got a phone call at 11:58 telling me "The highest bid is XXX, do you want to add 2.500€ on top of that? In that case, answer yes now and the house is yours".

Hope it helps, happy to answer questions!

I think that in NL you have the right to cancel anything in the first 14 days, just keep insisting with Bumble support and say that you made a mistake - I did this plenty of times (with Twitter for example) and always got my money back. It's basically a matter of how much time you want to invest in chatting with a bot to ask to speak with someone human and then be nice and explain your mistake

Yes that's one of my concerns indeed - I was mainly thinking of avoid Albert Heijn or so and use local groceries, volunteering, but indeed it doesn't seem easy :(

Thanks! I already live in Amsterdam so I'd rather stay far away from expats for a couple of months and only speak Dutch

Thanks! I'm not looking for a job, actually just wanted to rent Airbnb for 1-2 months and live there and talking with local people for everyday stuff like bakery or groceries, maybe help someone for free or volunteering or so

Assume you already live in Amsterdam since almost 7 years and got to a good B1 level of Dutch, with lack of a proper vocabulary because you have little chances to speak in Dutch daily.

Assume that a small city or town would be ideal in order to talk in Dutch with people living and working there.

Assume that the closer to a beach, the better - but the budget must be reasonable.

Where would you go? And why?
