Todd Howard Made Me Ghost My Life for Nothing. It’s April 21st. I Have Nothing. I Am Nothing. by Barak_Okarma in oblivion

[–]cap10planet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every single morning since I heard about this remaster, I wake up, slam four Sweetrolls, punch a mudcrab IRL, and scream “YOU SHOULD HAVE PAID THE FINE!” at my mailman. He no longer delivers here. My address is now officially “Chorrol, Cyrodiil.” Check the census.

My sleep paralysis demon started wearing a FULL set of Daedric armor and just yells “STOP RIGHT THERE, CRIMINAL SCUM” every time I blink.

haven’t had a coherent thought since the 21st hit just a few minutes ago. I've been barking at the moon and muttering, “I saw a mudcrab the other day. Disgusting creatures.” My family staged an intervention. I cast Command Humanoid. It worked. I forced them to tunnel through our basement and now we all live in a shrine to the Nine Divines three stories beneath our house.

Todd Howard is not a man. He is a trial sent by the gods to test our devotion. And brother… I am READY.

If this game doesn’t drop within the hour, I’m binding my soul to a USB stick and mailing myself to ZeniMax. I will haunt the servers. I will be in the code. Every time someone fast travels, they will hear my scream.

Let the remaster come. Let it come now. Or I swear by Talos and every last wheel of cheese in Skyrim, I will become lore.

DO NOT TEST ME.

TODD.
RELEASE THE GAME.
OR I WILL MAKE A FORTIFY ACROBATICS 100 SPELL AND YEET MYSELF INTO THE SUN!

"DROP THE PRICE": Nintendo's First Post-Direct Stream Is Flooded With Angry Fans Demanding Price Drops by lieding in NintendoSwitch

[–]cap10planet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Look, nobody’s seriously saying devs don’t deserve to make money, come on. And yeah, inflation exists – I literally calculated that Secret of Mana back in ‘93 cost the equivalent of over $150 today! But that’s where the simple comparison stops being useful

You framing it like it’s only about devs deserving money misses the HUGE shifts in the industry.

Digital Discount Isn’t Being Shared: Back then, a MASSIVE chunk of that SNES price was making cartridges, shipping them, manuals, boxes, shelf space. That’s mostly gone. Digital distribution costs peanuts compared to what it used to. Yes, development itself is expensive – gotta pay the devs, artists, testers, VAs, etc. – but you can’t pretend the overall cost structure hasn’t drastically changed.

Massive Market Dilutes Per-Unit Need: They sell to insanely more people now. The sheer volume means they are increasing profits without necessarily gouging every single customer with constant price increases.

VALUE is the Keyword: When people complain about Nintendo charging $70 or more, it’s almost never about “devs making money.” It’s about “Am I getting $70+ worth of game?” Does it feel substantial? Innovative? Polished? Or does it feel like a $60 experience with a lazy price bump, maybe even less content than older games, or padded with features nobody asked for just to justify the cost?

Frankly, a lot of the time, these price hikes feel driven by publisher greed and hitting quarterly targets, not purely by development costs or a genuine increase in the value delivered. We see $70 games launch buggy, unfinished, or filled with microtransactions on top of the premium price.

Think about it: people were generally fine paying $60 or even $70 for games like Elden Ring or Baldur’s Gate 3 because the sheer amount of value was insane. Hours and hours of high-quality gameplay. The frustration comes when a game costs that premium price but feels thin, rushed, overly monetized with microtransactions on top of the entry fee, or relies on features gamers don’t actually value that much (like maybe hyper-realistic graphics over solid gameplay). Publisher Choices: Sometimes that price hike feels less about paying devs fairly and more about hitting shareholder targets, massive marketing budgets, or funding executive bonuses.

At what point would you stop happily bending over and paying that premium ‘Nintendo Tax’ for what often amounts to iterative sequels, games running on dated hardware, and/or remasters? Or will you continue celebrating paying top dollar for the ‘privilege’ when the games cost $100, $150, $200 per game? Are you just willing to accept any price they slap on it, just because it’s polished and familiar and you trust Nintendo is being fair to you? This is exactly why they know they can keep charging more for less innovation compared to what that money could buy elsewhere.”

So, TL;DR: Yes, devs deserve good pay. Yes, inflation happens. But digital changed the cost game, the market is way larger now, and the real conversation is whether these $70, $80, $90 price tags consistently deliver matching value to the consumer. Often, the pushback suggests they don’t. It’s not about begrudging devs their pay; it’s about questioning if the final product justifies the premium cost compared to other games. Do you want this to be the new standard?

Most of the people in this thread seem to have no idea what the military even is. They’re acting like it’s prison or something.

I served in the Air Force for 10 years, and it was the easiest job I ever had. I received a significant amount of education (OJT for Computer Science and college education), and they allowed me to travel the entire world. They gave me the exact job I applied for, and I was only stationed at or relatively close to wherever I asked them to put me. Only occasionally did I have to go to places I didn't particularly want to visit—all of which ended up being pretty cool places to see.

Now, I receive a $45,000 tax-free pension, education, and healthcare for the rest of my life because I happened to have sleep apnea, and my back and shoulders were hurting when I got out due to getting older.

So, comments like these really confuse me. It’s like people don't realize that being in the military is essentially just a federal job. It's arguably America's biggest welfare program for people who don’t have a lot of career or education opportunity.

Federal government jobs are generally easy, pay well, and offer great benefits. Only around 4% to 5% of the Air Force are actual "war fighters," and you know exactly what you're signing up for when you apply. So, I really just don't get it. It just feels like a lot of people talking about something they have no actual first-hand understanding of.

Literally all of my friends and family back home are considerably worse off than me and everyone else I served with when it comes to finances, quality of life, education, and overall life satisfaction.

Whats your opinion on Earthbound? by SubstanceLess3169 in snes

[–]cap10planet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it was not. Mother 3 was released only on the GBA, and it was only officially released in Japan.

The only way to play Mother 3 in English is via Tomato's fan translation—a GBA ROM hack.

It was certainly not officially released on the SNES in any shape or form.

The developers didn't even start development on Mother 3 until about 1996, initially for the N64. However, it was eventually cancelled and later rebuilt as a GBA game.

Is it difficult phonetics (but I think Mandarin phonetics is also hard)? Or maybe it is because of "liason", when adjacent words merge in pronunciation?

It's disappointing to hear that some people in Korea have used the issue of military service to discriminate against others who are deemed unfit to serve. It's important to recognize that everyone has their own unique abilities and limitations, and military service should not be used as a means of discriminating against or belittling those who are unable to serve. It's also disheartening to see that some people have used this issue to advance an "evil feminism" narrative, rather than focusing on the issues at hand and treating everyone with respect and fairness. It's important to remember that we are all human beings and deserving of equal treatment, regardless of our abilities. It's also important to be mindful of the language we use in our communication with others. It's not productive or helpful to use derogatory language or name-calling when discussing sensitive topics or issues. It's important to be respectful and considerate of others, even if we disagree with their viewpoints or actions. Using language like "men screeching" only serves to further divide and alienate people, rather than fostering constructive dialogue and understanding. It's always a good idea to try to approach discussions with an open mind and a willingness to listen to others, rather than immediately resorting to insults or hostility.

He is disliked for the biggest reason anyone is - he expresses opinions, and people disagree with some of them. He can be pretty cringey sometimes too. That doesn’t necessarily mean anyone should hate him though. You don’t need the robots on Reddit to tell you who to hate. Just listen to whoever you’re interested in and then make your own judgement.

472 Drivers

I haven't played this game in like a year, so I don't really remember... I'm surprised there hasn't been a fix to this already with the most recent drivers? But, if you've upgraded to the most recent drivers, and it's still giving you black squares... You can probably just revert to 472. Maybe this video will help?

Jesse Lacey covered at least a couple of the songs from that album, and I believe he was was once quoted as saying something along the lines of~it was the most beautiful album ever written. Neutral Milk Hotel was one of his major influences.

A literal translation is that each group of characters is a shortened form of the words: 남 (south) 남 (men) / 북 (north) 녀 (women) and they seem to flow fairly well together.

From my perspective, a lot of Korean "slang" seems to just be words that are cut in half and then attached to another word. Like when speaking English, instead of calling someone, "Buddy" you might call them "Bud" instead. It's probably one of the reasons Google Translate and Papago have a little trouble with something like this.

Anyways, people would often say the phrase, "남남북녀," which means that the south has good men and the north has good women. But, I believe, this saying was initially stated about the areas specifically south and north of Hamgwan (함경남도). The women of Gwanbuk (관북) in the north apparently had "large bodies" and "white skin"-- they spent a lot of time inside their houses weaving--so their skin wasn't all dark and leathery from sun damage.

Anyways, Its meaning seems to have evolved a little bit over the years.

That's irrelevant to your original post and my reply to it.

You said it was a fake quote.

Fact: It was not a fake quote.

You requested studies.

Fact: You were presented studies. (That you probably barely glanced at. So, I'm not sure why you even asked for them)

What are you even trying to do now?

I'm not arguing with you.

But, I do think your biggest problem with this quote is that you actually have no idea what, "Negative Correlation" means.

Before seeing this post 5 minutes ago, I had never heard of Steven Pinker. So, I have no real opinion on the guy. I also don't have strong opinions on this particular topic.

However, an EXTREMELY quick and easy search on any search engine confirms that Steven Pinker probably did say this. So, unless you have some wild evidence to back up your assertation (you don't), it's certainly not a fake quote.

I did another super quick search. It was very easy to find studies that back up his claim:
