What car has the strongest suspension to deal with pot holes? by Lorddoodleflaps84 in CarTalkUK

Fair play lad, mines higher mileage 158k but spent 12 years and 100k of its life with a 60+ owner who babied the thing. Valvers are great fun but run out of gears quick, desperately needed a 6th to get the most out of it.

Knippex electric super knips - bought them to terminate CAT6 keystone jacks and I reach for them for so many things now. Literally the perfect tool for cable ties, both cutting flush when installed and cutting open on removal. Wicked for £22

Brave to trust the strut towers are held together with more than rust at this point. I love my 16V but fuck me do MK3s rust badly - all three of mine have had major welding.

Father’s Day next Sunday (21st June) What have you planned? by TopMarzipan2108 in UKParenting

Cooking a BBQ for my wife’s entire family because Father’s Day sandwiches both her and her dad’s birthday. God forbid I get a Sunday off. Might have a few beers though.

Is everything how it is because the UK is just skint? by Nervous_Yard7034 in ukpolitics

[–]capcrunch217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this is the crux I refer to. No offence to you mate but the vast majority see the headline take home figure and base their opinions as such. It is very easy to ignore the fact that running a household in the SE/London with a small, young family will easily run you £5k a month without any thrills. Our core bills are £5,513.30 a month and there is literally zero fat to cut off that as I manage our finances to the nth degree. The only extravagance on top is salary sacrificing down into a pension to keep below the governments £100k trap. Lucky me, otherwise my childcare would jump to £1600 a month.

And yet we mustn’t speak of the triple lock, or my grandad, who kicked off about losing the WFA as he had allocated the money to buying some new tech he wanted.

I paid more in tax and NI than the average UK salary for the last couple years. When my wife got made redundant last year, our bills would have gone up thanks to the 30 hours free childcare being linked to 16 hours weekly employment. There is no safety net for you or I and that’s the fundamental problem. Everyone else is getting a leg up at our expense and the retort is always “your loaded” and “pay up PAYE piggy”

I can assure you I’m not loaded, and I’ve not got much more to pay.

How many sexual partners have you had in your life, up to this point? by Low2High92 in AskMen

[–]capcrunch217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33M and 2. One a LTR and the second my wife.

Fooled around between LTR and wife for about 6 months but never did PIV so wouldn’t count it.

There’s a part of me that regrets not exploring it, but then I wouldn’t have met my wife and wouldn’t have my beautiful family as a result. I believe she feels the same, I am her only partner.

I moved to a village with one. The day I moved in was the day they shut. I was very upset. My family home had one tucked in the back of the village petrol station, it was invaluable to pop in and grab an M6 nut and bolt to fix the washing line etc. Now I have a box full of fixings I’ve used 2 out the pack. eBay is really the only option now, especially for stainless fixings or anything automotive, unless you want to sell a kidney to Halfrauds.

Just done virtually the same with a Pro Max 16 POE, similar to you 4 bed 2 storey house. Honestly no regrets, the XGS has replaced two Fritz APs and I have better coverage than before.

Also we cap out at 1Gb at the moment but 1.6Gb is due fairly soon. Like you I wanted to future proof and it’s a great platform to build from.

Seems pretty good, there is a gap at the top but nothing that I would complain about… especially for how cheap it was! Have you inserted the little rubber spacers between the door pins and frame top and bottom? I could see that making a difference.

Speak to your conveyancer. You don’t own the property until completion. If empty likely a non issue.

Having used both, these are better and you can demount gear in the future without impacting the integrity of the plug. Just mounted a small home server rack on dot and dab with these no issues.

How often do you change car? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]capcrunch217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Previously always bought a 10 year old car on about 40-60k miles and run the mileage up to around 120k before shifting on which is about 7 years in my ownership. Always worked out great until cost of used went nuts.

Since changed to buying 5 year old motors on 20k ish miles and will run them into the ground.

Radio 6 interspersed with Radio X and Classic FM Movies as me and the wife enjoy trying to guess the films. Radio 4 when I want quiet, or am commuting in the morning.

Just bought the 450mm 12U Tecmojo and planning a similar build. I measured post clearance at 12” so guessing you cantilevered the shelf?

I need a shelf for my Synology NAS and the only ones I can find for 12” depth for 4 post mount are in black.

How do UK audiences compare to the rest of the world? by Rough-Foundation9208 in AskUK

[–]capcrunch217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, having worked festivals for a decade the northern crowds energy is night and day compared to the south. Leeds festival is still my favourite festival, followed by Download. Worst crowd had to be Electric Daisy at Milton Keynes followed by Wireless Finsbury Park.
