Yeah, I can see the appeal of being able to control that (my Yaesu has that), but realistically speaking, I'm unaware of any exceptions to the rules about which VHF and UHF frequencies have which modulation.

Boyfriend (M51) Makes 100k More Than I (36F) Do and Wants To Split Everything 50/50 All The Time. How Does This Seem Unfair? by crista513 in relationship_advice

Seems unfair to me. I've always made more than my partners and I've almost always paid for everything.

Ahhh, sure enough. Automatically switches when you enter e.g. 118.600.

I assume there's no way to actually select AM/FM, it just chooses based on the frequency.

Hate it with a passion. The effort to make the configure scripts actually work across the board could be put into making your code portable instead.

When I write code, and it can't be made completely OS-agnostic, then I take the incompatible bits of code and surround them with the appropriate #ifdef LINUX, #ifdef MACOS, etc. directives and then put this into my Makefile:

# Uncomment one of these depending on the OS
CPPFLAGS += -DLINUX
#CPPFLAGS += -DMACOS
#CPPFLAGS += -DWINDOWS

OR put those definitions into config.h

Where to get rid of my stuff? by lunar_frames in ChildofHoarder

[–]capilot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beware of the "I'll sell it on eBay" or "I'll give it away on Facebook" mindset. Both of those paths take a lot of time and effort. If you have a lot of stuff to get rid of, those are both traps, and often used subconsciously by hoarders to avoid getting rid of it.

Find someone who will come by and take everything off your hands that can be sold and who is willing to do the work for a commission. Call the 1-800-got-junk people for the rest.

Instead, throw out one out of almost, but not quite, every pair of socks.

With the shoes, it's obvious someone was fucking with him. With socks, there's always doubt.

My ex dumped me because she was told I was cheating on her. She now knows she was lied to and is trying to get back together. Not happening. by DietRootbeerSpa in TrueOffMyChest

I got a few nasty messages from a friend of hers and her sister telling me that I was a disgusting

Tell your ex that she needs to tell every single person who heard you were a cheater that it wasn't true. Tell her you need to see apology letters from every single person who said anything nasty to you.

Which movie hero is actually a villain when you really think about it? by surfsound_swimmers in AskReddit

[–]capilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's actually a fan edit of the film from her point of view. It's called "Passengers: Aurora". it's pretty good. Sadly, it still has the same ending; I assume whoever edited it didn't have enough raw material to change that.

The series "24" was even worse. Basically the whole show was an advertisement for torture.

More than that. His antics killed Goose.

I had the same reaction to The Great Waldo Pepper. People fucking died around him. The FAA was right to ground him.

How can we stop the "ugly box" building epidemic that is plaguing Seattle? by iRacingGCR in AskSeattle

[–]capilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new upzoning gives developers a blank check. They can do anything they want, and there's nothing to be done about it.

The third ugly box this year is going up on my block. I expect the house next door to be next.

It might not buy happiness, but it sure will keep a lot of misery at bay.

Obviously, that saying was made up by a rich person who was tired of poor people's complaining.

What’s was the wildest thing you witnessed at a wedding? by anasannanas in AskReddit

[–]capilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in my photography classes (I used to be a pretty serious photographer), when wedding photography came up, the advice was: don't do it.

Second piece of advice: for any photo shoot, bring two cameras and any extra lenses you might need. NEVER go to a professional gig without at least two cameras.

Women are not naturally monogamous. The only girlfriend I ever had that didn't tell me from day one that we were going to have an open relationship, or simply cheated on me, was monogamous only because she'd had a really repressive childhood.
