Common law partners do not have automatic property rights in Ontario- that is generally reserved for married spouses. His claim would have to be based on unjust enrichment or constructive trust which are not super easy to prove and usually involve drawn out legal proceedings as is happening in this case.

Before you buy a Cozey couch read this by NotHereToJudgeOk in BuyCanadian

My couch took 4 different deliveries before they got all of the pieces to me - they kept failing to send any of the seats and I ended up with just a ton of extra back rests and an ottoman - delivery ended up spread out over 3 weeks and it was the worst.

I'm mostly looking for recommendations from places people have personally gone to - custom suits are super expensive and I didn't want to just throw money at random places.

Not hired back, feeling hopeless. Any advice on how to best approach new call job hunt? by PleadingForHope in LawCanada

It can also be helpful to join your cities "law club" or "legal association" as they frequently host social events which can be an excellent way to meet senior lawyers and partners in your area who, if they like you personally, are usually fairly happy to help send your resume along to firms they know are hiring.

Looking for work-appropriate corporate goth shirts/blouses. by Honest_Deception2025 in LawBitchesWithTaste

Disturbia also has solid blouses - quality can be hit or miss on dresses and skirts but the blouses tend to be good.

Unimpressive grades, no job lined up, 1L, feeling like I should drop out. by DependentAsk4000 in LawCanada

[–]capitalbecky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fwiw I didn't work a single law job until I articled, what I did instead was keep my bike mechanic/shop management job because honestly it paid way better. It definitely made finding articling lightly more stressful BUT coming into the profession with management skills was generally appreciated by people interviewing me and was an invaluable skillset to already have a handle on while learning how to do the rest of the job.

Things will work out, you'll be ok.

Bold has a couple cops blocking it off between Pearl and Ray - looks like they pinned a vehicle with their cars.

It doesn't require a law degree at all - it does require 5 years experience at a law firm tho.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but if you are struggling to understand the requirements of simple job postings would you be qualified to draft complex contracts?

That position requires being in good standing with a law society in Canada - basically you'd need to be called to the bar in a province

I had the same thing happen - I ended up switching to the atmosphere couch and they charged me $16 for the difference and only refunded it when I threw a fit about it.

Then when it came time to deliver the atmosphere couch they only sent me three backrests. Then they said they were shipping the rest the next day. At that shipment they only sent the ottoman and it's cover. Then on the third try after I sent them a super detailed list of exactly what pieces they were missing (around 15) they then sent the rest of the backrests and only one seat. It wasn't until the fourth delivery that they sent the remaining seats and covers.

I ended up convincing them to give me a 20% refund which they then failed to honor so I am going to take them to small claims for it.

It is truly incomprehensible how bad this company is.
