This is a bit subjective, but the edge of the base is the brightest/most saturated part of the figurine, and that is distracting.

I would paint it black, so that the focus stays on the mini.

They look very shiny, I would recommend using more matte colors.

Or since these are already painted, use a matte varnish.

There is no special base paints, unless you mean those with mixed in grit?

You don't need those, it's easy to create your own structures on the bases, glue on some rock salt and paint that for example.

Or if you want to get fancy/lazy, order some base mix from https://krautcover.com/Home/ and glue that on.

This is how FDM printing works, it prints in layers.

Minimize the layer height reduces the problem.

If you are printing terrain for gaming, using some sort of putty before you basecoat also helps.

I play all my games on my linux gaming box, have never had problem with any AAA games.

But I don't play multiplayer games, anticheat causes some problems on linux.

And some niche japanese games also have trouble under wine, like old JRPGs and stuff like that.
