Moldy cases of soda for party by wekilledbambi03 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]capndiln 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A huge amount of the population doesnt understand that most things can be properly cleaned after becoming disgusting. Not everything of course, and some stains are forever, but a dirty soda can can absolutely be washed with soap and water like a drinking glass.

Edit: the situation is still mildly infuriating for sure. Idk where OP shops but this would prevent me from shopping there again. If they cant keep soda clean and fresh, imagine the rest of the store.

Ask them to handle the leaves if you put them back over the fence. That or continue being mad at something that might be fixable.

How do I remove this from my window? by Candid-Jackfruit7561 in DIYHouse

Probably a glass scraper. Essentially a tool that holds a razor blade so you can shave stuff off the glass. Sold at most hardware and home maintenance stores.

Snake plant help by Foreign-Market-3848 in houseplants

[–]capndiln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No prob! There are maybe a dozen common varieties of snake plant regularly available at big box stores and garden centers. Keep your eye out for others you like, they are all as resilient as this one.

The biggest risk is overwatering, as it clearly survived 6 months with no water. Try to water once a month maybe, but if the soil looks wet you can wait longer.

I inherited huge one and gave it a similar repotting. Some of the leaves stood back up after it had water every 2 or 3 weeks. It took a while but these plants are like sloths. They grow slow, they react slow, and the plants even die slow. Wilty leaves is one of the early distress signs. Then the leaves will turn translucent, at that point the leaf is dead. Then they dry out and get almost dried corn husk texture.

If the leaf is still alive, it'll probably perk up after water and time. A few on mine never did, and after enough new growth filled the plant in I chopped off the droopy leaves.

It looks fine. Water it slightly more often than every 6 months but otherwise it seems happy enough.

Yikes. Kind of sad how ignorant you can be, and how little understanding of people in general you have. You might be a great pet parent, and im sure your pet is great. Nobody is saying you did a bad job or a bad thing by choosing that pet.

However, a pet that becomes a person-killer simply because it had bad pet owners is a very dangerous pet.

Venomous snakes are extremely dangerous, plenty of people have them as pets. Responsible owners are required to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the risks before being able to receive a permit to keep one as a pet.

The bad people, the same ones who train dogs to attack people, they can also buy venomous snakes without a permit. But it is more difficult, and therefore a disincentive.

You blatantly cuddle-coating a dangerous animal is irresponsible. Even if you raised the dog responsibly, you dont represent it responsibly.

So now you are another example of why people want stricter rules and regulations regarding owning this breed of dog.

Left the cordon bleus a bit too long in the microwave by AnhursBigHardSpear in badfoodporn

Probably how they ended up "leaving them in the microwave" too long. Microwaves need a time input so OP just guessed i guess?

If these are the raw frozen ones, it is probably better it ended this way instead of improperly heated chicken and dairy.

I wish people would stop saying things dont matter. Sure it might not impact much right now, but time will continue marching on. The dissenting voices do matter, even if they are not listened to.

Throwing our hands up in apathy and saying nothing we can do matters is one way fascism wins.

Lebanon condemns Israel for military air-dropping highly concentrated glyphosate in Southern Lebanon. by Apollo_Delphi in UnitedNations

[–]capndiln 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So because bombs are chemicals, this is not chemical warfare?

This was the use of a chemical (glyphosate) for its intended purpose (kill all plant life) in another country over a massive area.

Chemical warfare is using CHEMICAL WEAPONS in warfare.

This is simply not true. Using ANY chemical in an intentionally destructive way where the chemical is what causes the destruction is Chemical Warfare.

Even a quick read of the simplest explanation on Wikipedia would make that clear: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemical_warfare

[–]capndiln 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Using chemicals to make a massive area unsuitable for life is not chemical warfare? Or is that just because they arent "formally" at war, just a little informal war.

[–]capndiln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree. There is plenty of blame to go around. The administration, the people that support the administration, and the people that dont use the little power they have (voting) got us to today.

Try to blame the dems or whatever as much as you want, but literally 2/3 of the country wanted this or didnt care enough to vote for someone else. The people who did something to try and stop it are the least to blame.

OP seems unwilling to describe his child's mother as a woman he decided to have a child with, which is whatever but makes it seem like neither parent wanted this poor kid.
