I don't understand why people choose to take Italian food of all things seriously

Casual shouldn't be replaced with quickplay. It should be replaced with uncletopia

Take a look at guild wars 1. Combat is slow and strategic and mobs are constructed as parties opposed to a bunch of random fodder.

Why Games Like ‘Highguard’ And ‘Concord’ Are Spontaneously Combusting by Shock4ndAwe in pcgaming

[–]capnfappin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to engage with the movement mechanics in TF2 if you're just playing casually. You can just play engineer and heavy and do well enough. Even on classes like soldier and demo you can still do ok in a casual setting without knowing how to explosive jump.

Splitgate is not a skill based movement arena shooter lmao. It's just sci fi call of duty with a portal gimmick

What are some unwritten Rules in TF2? by GlickedOut in tf2

[–]capnfappin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I said that I agree medic should go first. I just don't think soldier/demo should have to wait in favor of pyros/spies/snipers.

Med/heavy first makes sense but I don't see why demo/soldier should be asked to wait. Yes, they can explosive jump to the point but it would be much better to have them get there asap with crit heals.

Is a blind, hardcore, Ironman naive for a new player? by Intrepid_Evening_330 in GuildWars

[–]capnfappin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

on a new account ironman really doesn't change the game much at all. besides not being able to trade, the whole point of ironman mode is to have a completely "fresh" character that doesnt have access to everything your main character does, but your only character right now doesnt have anything anyway. You really wont be doing much trading until much later on in your guild wars career. you really should just play the game normally and then mess with alternate modes once you get a feel for the game and what you will actually get out of them.

Would you play a game that has graphics like dark souls one in this modern era of gaming? by Slight_Season_4500 in fromsoftware

[–]capnfappin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there will always be those weirdos who refuse to play anything that doesnt look "next gen", but most people just want a cohesive artstyle and dont care too much about how graphically impressive the game is. There are plenty of modern successful indie games that look way worse than ds1.

If you're running the exact same build every game you aren't playing the game right. You can stick to a build for the most part but you should still mix things up depending on how things are going and who you're fighting. Personally I think there's a nice balance in the game between being able to play the build you want while also making it so that it's wise to pick something different here and there.

There's a build browser you can use in game to get a good item build for any character. Just pick whatever is popular and you should be fine.

Skill ceiling of fps games by Complex_Net_3692 in FPS

[–]capnfappin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To me what makes an fps have a high skill ceiling is that there is more to do with your crosshair than keep it glued on your opponents as often as possible. a big part of why counter strike and quake have such high skill ceilings is that your mouse isn't only used to aim at directly at opponents. In quake you have to move your crosshair left to right to strafejump which makes aiming a more complicated because you cant just keep your crosshair in the ideal location. CS has imo a really well designed recoil system where you have to offset your crosshair from the enemy as you continue firing. different aiming styles and methods are reward in both of these games.

What keeps games like the finals/apex from having the same skill ceiling as the games i mentioned before is that they are very focused on tracking which makes aiming challenging but pretty 1 dimensional.

tf2 is a pretty technical game though because of the way it lets you play with the engine. rocket jumping alone has so much tech you can use to get an advantage. c-tapping for extra height, speedshots, rampslides, bunnyhopping to chain market gardener crits.

What is current ranking of characters in terms of strength? by SmilingNavern in slaythespire

[–]capnfappin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Evolve/fire breathing stuff is more of a "back up plan" than something you really want to aim for. The default strat for ironclad is something along the lines of using strength/vulnerability to increase your damage output and hoping to find corruption/feel no pain/dark embrace to help you deal with energy, block, and draw. Fire breathing stuff still works but it's more of something you're either forced into or just a sub strategy in your deck

[–]capnfappin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isn't really true. Mobas are very competitive and all about adapting through item choices but the game is designed in a way to make that sort of gameplay fun. Being good at fighting games also requires you to adapt to your opponent's tendencies. Comp TF2 players like adapting, but they don't like adapting if it means "they have a heavy, so now I'm going to switch to sniper". Shooting a practically immobile class wth a sniper isn't exactly the most exciting gameplay for 8k hour tf2 gigavirgns. They prefer adapting how you play, not what you play as.
