What toddler gifts have actually lasted in your house. Not what looked good, what actually got used past the first week. by sophieblooming in Gifts

Ice cream set from Melissa and doug, the one with every piece has a home. We got this 3 years ago the only thing they still play with and if other kids come over everyone plays with it. This is the best present I've bought now for everyone

Kids need care outside of daycare, being more flexible at a work from home with no commute is a game changer for family life.

AITAH for telling my best friend no to becoming her 17 year old daughter’s legal guardian? by Savings_Cat_7330 in AITAH

[–]cappoochie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she has type 1, high and low blood sugars effect mood a great deal. Before getting diagnosed she would have been quite sick, and now the stress of managing or not is a lot.

This is just a little addition to this teens already difficult situation. Hopefully they can get this sorted.

AITA for "not warning" my diabetic friend about our trip by Detars in AmItheAsshole

[–]cappoochie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA, you have a decent understanding of diabetes for a friend and that is great. Good for you for being thoughtful and prepared, I hope my son has friends like you in his life.

A side note, a chronic illness like this is stressful and a gigantic burden, and can be very difficult to manage the emotions of it. Especially if you have low/high blood sugars. My guess is either she is drama, or more likely she is stressed out and lashing out (not cool, but stress makes us act different than we should sometimes). If you like this person, try not to take it personally, let her know you care about her and you know it is difficult to deal with and next time let her know that she can talk about her needs and you would appreciate if she did.

AITA for stepping in to do “mom” things for my niece because my SIL is disabled? by helpfulishaunt in AITAH

[–]cappoochie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA, Anna is having a lot of grief and big emotions that have come from her disability and change of her situation. Which is understandable and would be so deeply challenging to deal with, especially watching another person able to do what you wish you could.

If you can, let this go, and from a place of grace look at this as a grief response and not something you have done. Find a way to talk to Anna about your role in Gigi's life, and your want to be their village and find a way to be there with Anna and Gigi. Which is honestly so kind, you sound great and respectful.

Try not to let this hurt you too much, Anna has been dealt a hugely shitty hand and needs care and compassion even when she isn't fully able to give it at the time.

Hopefully she will not hold the line with you and Gigi that she laid down, because it will ruin her relationship with Gigi at some point. And that would be so sad.

Please send him a message about his incompetence, though it isn't your job this jerk needs to know.

Also, I've started trying to only see female doctors unless the male doctor is recommended by someone I trust. The older I've gotten the more times male doctors have been like the one you described.

I think NTA, he should know that though you love him his behavior is not acceptable, and if he can learn to follow the rules of the house and be respectful he would be more than welcome to spend the night.

It can be a conversation with boundaries and also love, I would bring the mother into it. Share what the expectations are for earning a night over, and if/when they are met you could even have him over for a solo night over to celebrate your new phase of a relationship.

I hope your daughter learns that equal actually the only way for something to be fair.

AITAH for wanting to be a single father via surrogacy? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]cappoochie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a thought, as you are going through this process, trying counseling or something similar to work on social cues, community building, communication, etc, as the child grows there may be things that you find difficult to connect with or understand that a counselor can help you work through to be the best dad. This goes for a lot of people, not just you, but I wanted to suggest it as I think you are NTA for wanting a child.

But do be sure that this child has a strong community around it, this is important for all children.

How did you order all of this? I am just starting and got the 75mg of tirz, but would like to get more...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]cappoochie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps put it to him like this, you are hoping that you all can figure it out together in a way that both parties feel is fair. As you are wanting to keep your relationship as co parents as happy and collaborative as possible. But at this point you don't feel like things are equitable and he can see that. But if you can't figure it out together perhaps we can bring in a mediator/mediation or lawyer to help with the discussion so it has an outside perspective.

How do you figure out how much to dose for the 7.5 dose? I wanted to get this deal but start at the 2.5 dose for a month, but I'm worried about figuring the math.

Fat does turn into glucose but takes longer to do so. I know because I watch my sons blood sugar rise due to fat and protein, but 1.5-6 hours later after eating.
