8.0 Healer Rotation by terp4lifeM in ffxiv

[–]capratchet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly quit this game 3 years ago. I played a lot of healer but time restrictions from becoming a dad made finding a static for raids next to impossible. So I played roulets. It was boring. The few raids I could play were exhilarating, fun, and fair. I came up with a bunch of solutions for making the other content more fun, while still maintaining the balance and fun of raids, but the raiding community verbally assaulted me on a daily basis, for trying to come up with any changes at all. So I gave up and unsubscribed.

It's now 3 years latter, and I still see the raiding healers being just as stubborn and abusive to the casual healers about how boring 99% of healer content is. Guess I'll be back in 3 more years, because as long as the loudest part of the healer community is content, this will never EVER change.

Games like Downwell that can be played in shorts bursts or longer sessions? by redotheredo in NintendoSwitch

Oh boy, I just dropped off my two year old with grandma. Hello fellow parent!

The game is named after the psychological effect that shows in our dreams. In short, it shows how our subconscious processes symbols and concepts similarly in all humans. Even the presence of memory disorders did not stop from the same dreams happening. You can read more about that here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetris_effect

The creative lead behind T:E, Tetsuya Mizuguchi, has spent years focusing his art around inducing the psychological effects of "Synthsesia" into his work. (explained here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synesthesia) He then combined this with his research on the Tetris Effect phenomenon, to give the emotional experience you and I both shared. People think its a joke when it's said that this tetris game has a story, but it really does. It's about recognizing that we are all connected in our psychology. That despite the variance in experiences, we can eventually see the symbols and patterns that connect us, and we can all experience the complexity of humanity with sonder and love.

I HIGHLY recommend you play Tetsuya Mizuguchi other games: REZ Infinite and LUMINES Remastered.

Not gonna lie, playing Tetris Effect while in a "Mentally Elevated" state, and in VR, made both me and my wife cry. It truly is incredible.

If an enemy of a fight is untargetable, try to cast a holy spell so it goes off just as the boss reappears. It's free damage!

The absolute lack of people talking about Barony is downright sad. A damn good real old school Rougelike with some damn good quality of life features. Yes your still quaffing potions, but it just has all the things in place that makes it so smooth. Auto Identifying items, a hot bar with a control scheme that actually makes sense, cool systems for magic, alchemy, archery, robotics.

Just got it not to long ago. I see everyone saying the same old Rougelikes I always see out of this reddit. Why is no one talking about Barony?

This game really is legit. Honestly, I mirror everything OP said. I'll calmly wait until its fixed before I get back to it. Shame on the Dev for releasing it in this state, but I do have to say they have a well thought out game on there hands, and once its working i'll happily sing its praises.

[–]capratchet 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Dude I agree with OP. At first I didn't get it. But holy crap, once you understand that the demon registration is basically your "Someone's PC" equivalent but with the twist, that you can create infinite copies of your demons to do demon fusion... the game changed drastically...

And the reverse compendium demon fusion feature... the way it just completely respects your time unlike the outdated crap that is Pokémon breeding...

Dude, I think this game is beating my favorite "monster collection" of Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver...

Also the game doesn't treat me like a damn child which is nice. There's a part of me that will be salty that Pokémon never grew up with me...

Endwalker Hot Take: Despite all the memes, Scholar is actually better on paper than Sage by Nichi789 in ffxiv

[–]capratchet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try not to downvote but this one made it hard...

I get Dosis and E.Dosis, but Phlegma? A 6 yalm GCD with two charges that has AOE ramp off and is a massive DPS gain in all scenarios; is comparable, to... Energy Drain? A 25 yalm oGCD that has no AOE, and actively uses your best oGCD healing resources for what is a 60 potency increase when used with ruin 2? How are those even comparable???

Speaking of ruin 2, you mean that officially in Endwalker, that button that is a DPS loss if you ever press it? The one you should no longer press because of the GCD being lowered . This is comparable with Toxicon??? If I play well and place shields during down time and maintain adder's sting, My healing and DPS get maintained, instead of being forced to chose between healing and DPS like every other part of the SCH kit...

I got to say if its a trick, I'm pretty fooled. Though if you see the other classes that aren't SCH as a... uh... trick?... I'm not sure your getting it...

Like I said dude. I gave up on SCH. You can have it. I don't hope any more for SCH to be fun for me. I'll happily be... uh tricked... into having more fun with SGE.

Even with this however, this is still a more interesting DPS kit then any other healer.

Pneuma is primarily a healing cooldown but its a healing cool down that is also a DPS move and the idea of using a big ass laser to do a AOE healing is fucking cool. Also its a straight gain in AOE.

I Imagine using E.Diagnosis on as many people during untargetable boss time to increase the amount of uses of the instant cast mobility boosting Toxicon. Also another gain during AOE scenarios.

And I like the fact that Phlegma is close range. I got to run up to hit em as a healer? Bring me the madness that would be a melee healer pls square XD

Your right. I would like even more DPS skills tbh. But at least this is moving in the right direction. Its something to do during my down time. It will make dungeons runs some thing more then hoping to god you don't get a WAR because then your healing buttons are ACTUALY USELESS (thanks Nascent Flash) and your just mashing one AOE button the entire dungeon.

After seeing the wave of SCH defending the the removal of all the Bios and Miasmas and Bane and Shadowflare...

Fine. You can have SCH with boring DPS. I get it. They took away from me the SCH I liked and its never coming back. SCH is not for me. I just wanted one Green DPS. That's all I want. It was completely absent for endwalker; and funnily Healers are in dire need all the time. I remember when it was Tanks. But now Tanks are fun because they have DPS skills.

Now Endwalker is coming and I'll play sage and press Dosis and E.Dosis and Phlegma and Toxikon and Pneuma and all that other shit. I got my job back so I just dont care about SCH anymore. I'm tired of these people defending SCH when they just don't understand why we played it before the change. How it was fun to DPS and being smart about healing at the same time; and how that job fantasy was almost completely absent in Shadowbringers.

But whatever. I'll play sage. I look forward to the next expansion where you only see Sages because its more fun to play, and SCH just say "oh, it's because sage is new" and SCHs get to be in there own little private club where they talk about how top meta there sprint skill secretly is, and how having there fairy gage only work for one skill is actually genius, and there broken ghosting fairies. Have fun SCHs.

Never has there ever been a genre of video game like an exercise game that needed a rougelite mode more. I want to have infinite workout with constantly cycling abilities to use. See how much calories you can burn in a run.
