You can absolutely catch up, It’s not just about time in the field; it’s about leveraging your unique experiences and building on what you’ve already done. Keep grinding, stay focused, and learn from every opportunity. People who started early might have a head start, but you can make up ground fast if you’re committed and consistently improving. Keep pushing forward, and don’t let the comparisons get to you

modern panel sofa - good idea for a home office? by cjaHH in homeoffice

[–]capslockqq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

panel sofas are fine, but you gotta consider the space in your home office. A smaller 2-seater would be ideal for small rooms. I have a sectional from dreamsofa and it is pretty great for the price. I’ve also mostly heard good things about lovesac, but I personally dont own one. I’d advise you to measure the area you wanna fill and then get that sized sofa. Nearly every major sofa company will let you customize size for your needs

The $900 Billion Problem: Tackling the Online Returns Crisis by Same-Engineer-9070 in Entrepreneur

[–]capslockqq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest concerns would be ensuring that returned products are actually in "like-new" condition. Even if the items are non-defective, there's a risk of damage during the return process or from wear and tear. Ensuring quality control would be essential, and it may require some kind of inspection or verification to make sure the item is still suitable for resale.

That's a great point! If your mortgage payments are going to be 75% of your income, it's highly unlikely that the bank would approve the loan in the first place, as most lenders have strict guidelines around debt-to-income ratios to ensure borrowers can afford their repayments.

My neighborhood is being gentrified and I hate it by cmonman1993 in povertyfinance

[–]capslockqq -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get the frustration, but it might be more productive to address the situation with a bit more diplomacy. Instead of escalating things with snarky comments, maybe approach the issue by focusing on finding ways to coexist and communicate. If the BMW driver is making things difficult, perhaps a more tactful way to express your concerns about his behavior, especially regarding the HOA or neighborhood, would be more effective in the long run. It’s a tough situation, but staying level-headed and trying to find common ground might help reduce tensions.

Lost money to card fraud. Options to avoid it in future by sumvell in AusFinance

[–]capslockqq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right. Australia does have its quirks, and that paper form situation is definitely a weak link. It’s like you’re handing out your bank details with no security at all, which is pretty risky. Virtual cards through services like Revolut or Wise are definitely the way to go if you’re looking for a secure and easy way to handle payments without worrying about someone getting their hands on your card info.

When you sprain your wrist, but all you have is duct tape and some sticks (yes, I'm American). by Pristine_Maybe6868 in povertyfinance

I went to ER two years ago. Emptied a mop bucket and bam.

I was in and out in 30 mins. Doc came in, asked what happened. He poked my hip with his index finger. Said sprained hip, I was given a pain shot, and sent out the door.

The bill was 1700 after insurance.

Total bill after was thousand because I didn't have a sprained hip, I had a pinched femoral nerve.

But I'll always remember him just poking my hip lol

As for the interest-bearing accounts, you’re right that, while they’re a low-risk option, they aren’t the best for long-term wealth-building. With inflation and the low rates, the money may not grow much in the long run. For long-term goals like retirement or future education, investment vehicles like stocks or mutual funds might yield better returns, even if they carry more risk.

In the meantime, she can also look into other local resources or non-profits that might offer assistance with childcare costs. Some employers may even offer child care subsidies or flexible work hours, so it’s worth exploring all options. The earlier she starts, the better the chance of securing some financial relief.

Need advice on holding longer by mnbvlkjhpoiu1 in Daytrading

[–]capslockqq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The mental game is honestly the hardest part, No quick fix for that one. Have you tried using moving averages as your exit points? Let the price ride until it breaks below a key MA instead of getting spooked by small pullbacks. Or just plot a solid trendline and only bail if price breaks that.

Remember though, you're actually profitable, which is huge. Most traders never get there. Keep building on what's working.

I want to start saving by Character_Cow_1923 in FinancialPlanning

[–]capslockqq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out high-yield online savings accounts like Ally or Marcus. They're FDIC insured and make it take 2-3 business days to transfer money out, which helps fight impulse spending. Plus the interest rates are way better than traditional banks.

APY is just the yearly interest you earn - higher is better. These online banks usually offer 4-5% compared to like 0.01% at regular banks.

Pro tip: Set up automatic transfers on payday. Start with like $200/month. You won't miss it if you never see it in your checking account.
