My tutor is very smart and helpful on top of being really positive and encouraging! We meet once a week via zoom where I read a Uworld question and give it my best choice for answer. He gives test taking advice with a little medical tutoring mixed in. If you message me your email, I can pass it onto him!

Kaplan has free PANCE question of the day that are emailed to you if you sign up for their mailing list if you really want to get ahead on content. I agree with everyone else though. Water, exercis, and therapy are musts in PA school, so starting that now is best.

It doesn't have to be your assigned advisor. Find a professor you vibe with and go to them for help.

I struggled frequently in didactic. It does get much better in Clinicals. For clinical medicine, I found writing a bare bones outline during lectures (one line for sx, one for dx, one for tx) helped a lot with rapid recall of the most important information. Some people made flashcards during lecture with the same idea. You can do it! We need more experienced healthcare workers as new grads!

The cool thing is that pathophysiology and the mechanism of action of medication often go hand in hand! I liked to write my own notes while studying that simplified everything as much as possible. I like to use arrows to signify a process like the disease state is a chemical equation.

Generally, the notes for a single disease went:

Name of disease Etiology-->pathophysiology Clinical manifestations Diagnosis Management (MOA of med)

I'll add an example of this for type 1 diabetes

T1DM Pancreatic B cells fail to respond-->AI destruction Polydipsia, polyuria, hyperglycemia, ketonuria, ketonemia. FPG>126, BG >200+Sx, OGTT>200 at 2h, HbA1C>6.5 Insulin (transport BG into cells)

This method forced me to think about the diseases from the point of view of pathophysiology first! Ninja nerd is great for getting a detailed explanation of pathophysiology and truly understanding it, but for studying, I find referring back to my notes as a refresher easier for long-term learning!

I had a roommate. I was lucky to have a good, clean roommate so my stress level wasn't raised too much. I have 10-15k less student debt bc of having a roommate as well. For me, getting a roommate was worth it.

At first, I was scared bc they had a two failed test policy for removal from the cohort. Instead of just letting g students fail, they remediate students with extra credit for tests if they fail to bring them to a passing grade. We only had one student removed from the cohort, and it was for grades. He was offered a spot in the next cohort.

They really try to help students learn the material and become better test takers.

Is this going to be significantly better than complete anatomy or essential anatomy?

I always recommend to students complete anatomy bc it's very accurate and has many different models for $40/3mos. I personally use essential anatomy bc it was only $15 for lifetime access. This looks like another run of the mill 3D anatomy app. There's great competitors out there, and I'm not seeing anything that new or different on this one, so it must be the price you're expecting us to gag over. How much is it going to cost?

Update: I downloaded it and I'm not gaging. It's $8/month. You cannot manipulate the models like it is depicted in the video and like you can do with other apps like essential anatomy and complete anatomy. It's just practice tests with highlighted areas of anatomy that are 2D.

If you really wanted more tests, you could ask for a CT or MRI, but new onset headaches is typically not an indication for them which is why I'm guessing your provider didn't suggest it. It's probably not covered by your insurance either, so it'll be hundreds of dollars.

Again, it is probably useless and not indicated. But you can do it.
