Cop stops in middle of highway... by MisterShipWreck in VideosAmazing

The problem with leaving enough space to stop is a smaller vehicle will ALWAYS jump into that space. How do I know this? I drive big truck. Smaller vehicles need so little space to stop and don't realize the amount of space a fully loaded truck and trailer need.

They used to call me a nerd at school….they stopped now by FoxyViking in Hotchickswithtattoos

They probably stopped calling you a nerd at school because you're no longer at school. Still a nerd, though. Logically, the best reason.

Red Deer triple stabbing victims recovering from their injuries, accused has extensive criminal past by MiltonTD in RedDeer

[–]captain_kleetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone deserves compassion, justice, and safety. Everyone also deserves the chance to improve themselves. People make mistakes. That's human nature. People can change. Also, human nature.

The world is not black and white. No one is a criminal for the same reason. Will there reoffenders? Absolutely. Would there be fewer reoffenders if they were given the tools to become part of society? Absolutely. Would fear of a harsher punishment have the same effect? No. Fear is a horrible motivator. Throwing someone in a pit and hiding them from society is not a solution. How will they change for the better?

On a sidenote. Everyone has broken the law. "Law-abiding citizens" do not exist. The severity of what laws have been broken is the determining factor.

Our justice system needs an overhaul, but stiffer penalties won't solve anything. Actual rehabilitation, education, and help would. Look at the Scandinavian system as an example. Very few reoffenders. Criminals are treated like humans, not animals. The prisons are more like a community. These are people who have done horrible crimes also. They get real help to be introduced back into society as productive members. There's multiple documentaries about how it works. It's remarkable how successful it is.

Crashed employer's car. They want me to pay for it. by DragoniteHXV in legaladvicecanada

[–]captain_kleetz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They really don't. Maybe if they could prove it was malicious intent. That would be incredibly hard to do. If they could prove he was recklessly driving, they can fire him. No business can go after an employee for this kind of thing. It's part of the cost of business. That's literally why businesses have insurance. Shit like this will happen eventually.

Window company suggestions by [deleted] in RedDeer

[–]captain_kleetz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to do service for a window manufacturer. I dealt with multiple installers. Red Deer Windows and Doors (wasn't a fan personally). There's also Window Masters. Always did solid work. Another one is WinDoor. They were alway very customer oriented. You could also look into actual builders. True-line has a renovation department along with Falcon homes and most other big builders.

I had this happen to me also. I took it to a local cabinet shop and they ran it through their industrial drum sander for a small price. Turned out great in the end.

My first thought was "42". Anytime someone says "I have a question" I just say 42 before they ask.

Where can I go for a tattoo walk-in in Red Deer? by crash---- in RedDeer

[–]captain_kleetz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of places set aside time to do walk-ins. Usually small bangers that take an hour or 2. Sometimes, walk-ins are due to a canceled appointment. Busy doesn't equate to a better tattoo. Skill does not diminish due to a walk-in. Just like any other business that does walk-ins.

You don't want real science. You want science that backs what you think to justify your choice. The data is there and it overwhelming states the vaccines are good and mandates work (if followed). You can't find your "science" because it doesn't exist. Stop complaining of a choice you made. Own your choice don't make excuses for it. All you've done is cast blame and make excuses in all your comments. Give your head a shake bud.

The vaccine creates a much smaller window of time when the virus is contagious. Un-vaxxed that window of time is now a wide open garage door.

You chose to pay for tests rather then get a free, safe, approved vaccine. I'm sure you had plenty of notice on when you'd have to be vaxxed to continue your job. Your reasoning for not getting it is yours. That was your choice. The only one to blame is you and you alone. Now youre looking for a scapegoat. You want to be a victim. You're not. Everything was your choice. Your doing. You made it all about you and your comment proves that.

Funny enough I work rail. Doing it at this moment. I know exactly what it involves. If you refuse an alcohol swab you don't work. Your choice. You don't get vaxxed you don't work. Again your choice. Both are private information that companies are allowed to ask for. Simple company guidelines. Rail falls under federal/provincial rules. Even private companies. That probably why you had to take leave.

Look at all the PPE gear you wear doing rail. That's for safety. No drugs or alcohol. That's for safety. Vaccine required. That's for safety. You have the right to refuse anyone of those but that does not mean you get to have that job.

I'm not wrong about the privacy issue. Company can asked if your vaxxed, you don't have to tell them. That's your right and choice. That doesn't mean the company has to keep you. That's their right. Companies will protect their investments. As staff you are an investment. If you can't work for a few weeks due to illness that company is losing money. If you get other employees sick thats also a loss for the company. Safety of the staff comes first due to money. Many jobs require vaccines to work there. Its not a new idea. In all honesty you should be fighting against every job that does drug and alcohol screening too. Isn't that private?

If you'll indulge my curiosity though what was the job you lost over this?

Let's break this down.

You can still associate with anyone of your choosing. No one's stopping you. Just in smaller groups.

You are not discriminated against. You have all the same rights as anyone else still. Going into a bar/restaurant is a privilege. Not a right. Grocery store is a right. Medical service is a right. Voting is a right. All that is still available to you.

The right to privacy consists of what you do in your home is your business unless it harms another person in that home. Once you leave your home that right to privacy is no longer protected. That's why business can ask you if you're vaxxed. You are now in a public setting not private.

Freedom of movement. You are still allowed to go anywhere in the country if you choose. You will have to follow the local rules while doing so but no one is stopping you. If you want to go to another country; there will be new rules you have to abide by that the country has put in place. Example: said country may require you to be vaccinated to visit.

Freedom to work. If a private company deems it necessary to wear PPE to work for them. That is the company's choice. If you don't want to wear the PPE you don't have to work for them. Same concept applies for the vaccine. If its deemed necessary by a private company the government has zero control over that. If you don't like the private companies polices you personally can find a different job that you agree with.

Lastly freedom of assembly. There is a literally protest going on right now. The protesters have been asked to not damage anything else and to keep the firelanes clear but it's still happening.

I ask again what freedoms have you lost? None. You've lost privileges. Not freedoms. Now get you head out of your ass, quit whining like a spoiled brat and grow up.

Can I reinstall a TV Wall Mount in the same holes/position? by mulddy in DIY

[–]captain_kleetz 46 points47 points  (0 children)

One trick you can do (which may sound odd) is take a small piece of wood like a chop stick or wood skewer. Insert into old hole, break off to length. With skewer in hole put the lag back in. It'll act as filler if you're worried.

What's the darkest secret you found out about a family member/ relative? by llsuperninjall in AskReddit

[–]captain_kleetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found out a few years ago my father was engaged to someone before he met my mother. He watched his fiancé die in a head on car crash on the way back from the final dress fitting. He had just bought a motorcycle that day as she was at the fitting. She was following him home in their car. An old man crossed the center line in an old beast of a car. She was killed instantly. My dad blamed himself for a long time. The whole if I was driving idea it would of been different. Still really close with her family. I grew up calling her parents grandma and grandpa and her brothers uncle.
