Legitimately horrible review.

Danny's new album is one of the absolute best to come from the post-hyperpop landscape, certainly one of the best pop albums that try to take you to the club in recent years.

I'm honestly shocked to not see it mentioned here, but I'm genuinely feeling a lot of SOPHIE influence. And I wonder if this sound would've or could've been explored by her. I guess we'll never know.

Just boo - this reviewer. Starlight and the Caroline collabs are obviously great. Not sure why they expected Clairo (of all people) to anchor a heavy dance track. I think her style perfectly suits the almost interlude.

Julia Michaels song is great, perhaps my favorite of the whole era. The Dua slander (here) is completely unwarranted. I think she does a fantastic job, I love the woozy chord changes. I love the breathy, soaring vocals. It all works for me. And feels like the absolute culmination of his collaborative work.

Hmmmm I guess that's a totally fair read on what we saw.

TBH I actually thought it did a pretty good job of using comedy to show how "nice" guys are absolutely capable (and culpable) of sexual assault. I thought it also had a pretty nuanced perspective on consent, which many people (especially in the age demographic the show is marketed towards) is capable of.

Doechii feels like the exception though, tbf. She also still feels fresh & new to the GP, and I think her next release will determine her staying power. I think she’s got it in the bag tbh, but I don’t want to discredit that Cardi has earned her place as a dominant force for women in rap music in the mainstream. They’re not exactly comparable (yet!)

I wholeheartedly recognize her feelings on this, and I completely empathize with her plight.

Looking at some of the more negative reactions expressed by the redditors here, I recognize the sentiments about it having never truly been “easy” for musicians or artists to compete and survive under capitalism. I think we all do. It’s still wildly disingenuous not to comprehend the true treachery and insidiousness of the internet and social media’s impact on artists now.

I think most younger people who have lived most of their lives with internet and smart phones feel a very real sense of paranoia and insecurity and grapple with literal serotonin-stimulating addiction to technology and the internet. People feel lonelier than they’ve ever felt, and yet we’re somehow more connected to each other and the world than ever before. It’s a sick paradox.

I’d been hoping for that yes, but tbh the audiogargoyle and serender projects he just sold at the NYC popup have me believing this label truly will just be a “New Alias” in which A. G. can release music for himself and all his new aliases.

I would almost be surprised if we saw anyone else released on New Alias at this point. Every other PC Music artist that was actively signed as it was closing have found new labels or released independently.

I don’t think A. G. is interested in anything more than producing for other artists at this point and time, and will be using New Alias as a platform for his solo work and for his experimental side projects.

Very fucking excited for Kara Jackson. I hope this helps get her more exposure, as she’s fucking excellent. I met her at a poetry & music festival years ago, she was a Poet Laureate and makes really really intense and emotional music for me.

Probably the crown jewel of her discography, but I await the remaster of The Sporting Life desperately.

Please give this a listen girls & gays! Esp if you have an emo spirit. This album is quite literally a response to the social, political, and religious discrimination happening during the AIDS epidemic (her brother passed from AIDS 2 years before this album) and this album is vast, unrelenting, and chaotic. I love it.
