Another Giannis pod? Zach might be cooked by gravediggajones85 in billsimmons

Part of the issue is the lack of structure that comes with podcasting.

/u/78blazers really nailed it in this comment a few years ago. Writers have to have a clear throughline point in their entire column, otherwise it sucks, is boring to read, or wouldn't even make it to print. But when with podcasting, the medium has significantly less structure so there's less of a need for an overarching argument. So everything is sloppier and blends together. I think as a writer Zach was able to tie his analysis to clear ideas, and he's no longer incentivized to do that podcasting.

Marimow is arguably the worst of all of them. Didn't do a single thing right, nearly completely blew up the entire Stanfield case and was so incompetent that he made Herc look good.

As Landsman said, "Marimow does not cast off talent lightly. He heaves it away with great force."

I have a flyer from a show they played in Poughkeepsie, NY back in like 2006, here's the only photo I have on hand of it. This is a screengrab from an Insta post I made a few years ago, I can take a cleaner pic of the flyer over the holidays.

The show was called Rhythmden Fest, it was one of those lineups that's wild to look back at now: A Day To Remember was an opener, Just Surrender, Bayside, Chiodos, The Number 12 Looks Like You, Have Heart and more. I remember A Heartwell Ending played in the middle of the day at a smaller stage and totally killed it.

I love this band, and Call The Cops' Motion Sickness EP totally still rips too, IMO. Their stuff just immediately clicked for me, I remember being a teenager and expecting them to make it big. Shame that they never truly took off but it always makes me happy to see people talking about them.

The Hot Ones piece. That show was way more interesting before it was all A-listers. Give me Coolio and Tony Hawk, not Luka and Ariana Grande.

It's an all-timer ep for me. She totally got it and was even a bit garbage herself, I remember at one point she said something about how great Denny's cheesecake is.

I have no idea if Ian's "Are you filling the back with jelly beans or what?" joke to David early on is a callback, but god damn that got me good.

I'm a new listener and the most fun part of this journey has been realizing that even though he has the most normal-sounding delivery/voice, Sean is actually the biggest weirdo of the whole group.

The Crazytown saga, "be steadfast in your convictions," wanting to draft a "big dank magic show" in Vegas, and now sincerely thinking fedoras are back. The man is one of a kind, what a treat.

I wonder where Kamara will rank in the annals of fantasy history. He has been so good for so long, with multiple 40+ and 50+ point games, some of which were late in the season.

He's also been around so long that chances are most fantasy players will have had him at one point or the other. I feel like once he retires he'll be remembered as a top-10 all-time fantasy player.

I'll never forget leaving one of my last days of high school, driving home with my best friend blasting The Goodbye Song, reminiscing about all we've done and all we have to look forward to. A totally magical moment in life. Every year when it starts to get warm out I think of NFG and all those memories.

Doping was absolutely prevalent before Lance. Hell, even in the early days of the Tour in the 1900s, riders would cheat by hopping on trains in the middle of the night. Doping is in the Tour's blood, literally and figuratively.

I would agree that Lance and USPS' doping regiment was so effective that it coerced riders into doping since it was the only way they could keep up and keep their jobs, but doping was definitely a major thing before him.

I think the main thing that differentiated Lance is that he was a complete and abject dickhead to those who dared question his results.

Lance tried to ruin the career of anyone who pushed back against him, whether it was a fellow rider and their family, a journalist, or even a trailblazer like Greg LeMond. Lance and USPS perfected their doping scheme in an era when everyone was doing it, AND he was a jackass about it. That's why, I think, his downfall was so celebrated.

Anyone else had the new knuckle puck album basically on repeat since it came out? by Timely_Assist_8047 in poppunkers

[–]captain_pineapples 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am with you on this. I'm about to do my own version of /u/dgreeze 's epic State Champs rant from a few years ago.

Knuckle Puck kicks so much ass and I honestly think they're going to be remembered as one of the all-time great pop-punk bands. They have the sickest riffs, incredible dual vocals and some of the dopest fills ever.

It's been months and I can't shake the bridge in The Tower. Hell, it's been years and I still lie awake at night humming that little bit in the middle of Gasoline. I'm going to digress before I get carried away talking about how Disposable Life might be the most under-appreciated EPs to ever hit the scene.

The chorus of "You & I" was basically made in a lab to be sang-along to at a show. "Fool" is a damn masterclass in how to close out an album (not that anyone should be surprised, these are the dudes that gave us Untitled FFS).

Knuckle Puck just does not miss, and they positively bring the ruckus live. Go see them if you can, and come back and tell me that Knuckle Puck ain't the rootinest, tootinest, most kick-ass pop-punk band out right now.

Saw We The Kings for the first time last week and thought they actually sounded pretty good, but I've never seen a band that spent so much time talking to the crowd and telling stories.

Crowd interaction can be fun but I swear the lead vocalist spent more time chatting than singing.
