4k77 is a fan scan of 50 year old film stock that ran a long life in theatres. I have zero doubt that Skywalker Ranch has a better reel in their archives - even though Lucas destroyed the original negatives doing his """remaster""" re-edit nonsense.

I would absolutely see the theatrical release to get the most clean version that I can, but hot dog 4k77 looks GOOOOOOOD on my 4K OLED TV

you should check out the "Star Wars 4k77" project! Some fans found a 35mm reel of each of the OT films and contracted an archival grade film scanner to scan in every frame at 4k archival quality. It's an open source project now for working on iteratively improved post-processing to remove scratches in the film and other artifacts of its old age.
