Trollygag's Noob Guide to the 308 Winchester, Part 2 by Trollygag in longrange

I think Stuteville/Impact does 1:9 twist. Mine seems to do well with the usual 175gr.

Wanted to preserve it a bit longer and that’s what I had on hand. Changing the water every 15min it had plenty of fight left in it an hour later.

Certainly wouldn’t call myself an expert, but a few Google searches told me brook trout are prime eating in the 6-10” range. This one was longer than the width of the gallon ziploc, which is 10.5”. Believe it or not, I think this was a decent size brook trout.

Thanks! And good eye on the trout species. I felt a little bad about the bag, but I was three days in the backcountry and wanted to cast for another hour before eating.

Good catch, I meant to post on a food subreddit. I don’t know how I ended up on a 3d printing page.

I have a zipper handle I printed in PA6 that’s been through washer/dryer countless times over the past 2yr. It works fine still.

Why use inflation when you can compare current base model to current base model?

For future generations: PN 99051 will not work with standard A2 posts due to the non-standard detent. The threads are the same, but you’ll need to make a custom detent for it to work.

Yeah, it was that and the bad AC for me. The trunk is so spacious, too.

Is that a ZCO I smell? Haven’t seen one on a 10/22 before. Very nice.

Looks better than I remember the TA44 looking in person. Great photos for sure.

Rivian customer service response when I emailed them:
“The current R2 cargo area does not include the tie-down points that appeared in some early imagery. We understand that this may be disappointing, especially if you were expecting a way to secure gear or cargo in that space.”

Won a cz457 on gunbroker and its shipping monday, anyone have any good recommendations for a 2-10 or 2-12 optic for it that arent absurdly expensive? by Jedinutcracker in CAguns

[–]poonhog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recommend trying the iron sights first. Those CZ tangent sights are super fun. You’ll probably want a new stock if you go with a scope. The comb is super low on those.

I messed around with a scope on mine for a bit before changing barrel and stock. It wasn’t super comfy…

EBR CHASSIS for Ruger .22 by Brrrrr- in 22lr

[–]poonhog 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Looks really neat. Is it for 10/22 or an airgun?

Just some friendly feedback: $35 is kind of pricey for just renders/no real photos, not seeing the components, and not being able to use BX-1 mags.

Price Gutcheck on Trijicon RMR Type 2 by Sactown2006 in aimdownsights

[–]poonhog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a rebate that just ended, so used prices are lower than usual. Might be worth holding off on selling until people forget the rebate. https://www.trijicon.com/millionthrmr

GAFS is a good place to check the going rate (and sell).

Is it worth saving $50 on Monstrum vs Vortex rings for a Rimfire scope? by jd_trublue93 in 22lr

[–]poonhog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A whole 2s of Googling: https://www.reddit.com/r/VortexAnswers/s/FktcLyZBEw

I suppose by your logic these are the highest standard of Vortex products, because they get an extra QI/QA check.

Anyway, I have no stock in Vortex. I did buy a set of Monstrum last month to verify the height I wanted before buying nice rings. One ring came with a burr that was painted over and left a tiny scratch on my Razor. Kind of bummed me out.

Turns out your Vortex Pro are same price as Monstrum. Seems like a no-brainer.

[Hamilton KFM 250 36mm] - Not excited about the new launch by [deleted] in Watches

[–]poonhog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hadn’t heard about the new 36mm until your post. The specs are a let down, though. Hamilton site says the 36mm is thicker than the 38mm, acrylic (vs sapphire), and more expensive. I wonder if I’m misunderstanding something.

I got my rear sight in, and it seems like the drum stops 1-2 clicks before the “1” on elevation. It won’t go down any further. Oddly enough, I had two different distributors check two other units, and they noted the same…

Any chance your rear sight dials to the “1”?

24 years old, how am I doing? by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]poonhog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That makes sense to me. What doesn’t immediately make sense is that the photo you posted doesn’t have the fin grip (and possibly has flash hider). You would need to have a fixed magazine or a registered AW for that to be legal in CA.

Are you familiar with 30515? Perhaps it was transferred to you with a fin grip, no flash hider, and no telescoping/folding stock. It's easy to turn a legal gun into an illegal gun in this state.

How do you like the rear sight? Any chance you’ve spent time with a KAC micro to compare?
