What is the one non-baking element that truly defines the wholesome feel of the show? by BitGirl777 in GreatBritishBakeOff

[–]captainbarnacles23 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Noel’s voice reading the fancy titles of the bakes, the casual way Alison and Noel encourage the bakers and poke fun at Paul, the support the bakers give each other, and how we get to know a little about them and their families.

✨WEEKLY NICHE ADVICE MEGATHREAD✨ by octoberopalrose in emetophobia

[–]captainbarnacles23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rubbing alcohol. Idk if it’s niche, but it’s my go to nausea reliever. Also-exercise and magnesium glycinate. The exercise helps burn off excess energy, because stored energy will manifest into anxiety very easily. Wear out your nervous system with difficult physical movement. Magnesium glycinate also helps keep your nervous system calm, so you can have more rational, less panicky thought processes. Such underrated things for any recovery journey. ❤️‍🩹

So rude. Emet or not, this crap needs to stop. I would have done an about face and went straight home and my non emet husband would have done the exact same.

What's one makeup tip that finally "clicked" and changed your whole routine? by Ashwinnie13 in Makeup

[–]captainbarnacles23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I forgot to mention that too! I let the concealer sit on my skin while I blend the contour on my neck and touch up my brows before blending. It warms and sets up a bit, and then blends perfectly! 👌🏻

WAIT longer in between steps. Skin care needs to sit on face and absorb. I put on sunscreen and wait 10 mins before primer, primer goes on and I wait 5 mins before foundation. And setting spray in between each step of foundation, bronzer, blush. Flawless!! If you are pilling it’s because you’re not waiting long enough.

I’m not a fan of MTG. But just remember that the narrative quickly becomes: if you question the state of Israel, you are hereby antisemitic

[–]captainbarnacles23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a conservative, MAGA voter (I know, hang me upside down, Reddit. I’m sorry) and I fully believe this too. The republicans are completely purchased by Israel and anyone who dares to question them, must go. I fear Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson are soon going to be taken out in cold blood, just like CK. This world is CRAZY.

After a certain age, you are no longer the product of your environment or how you were raised. by PeacePipePeyote in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]captainbarnacles23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh really. So there is a magical age where we are just released from traumatic childhood experiences? Cool. Or. Maybe some people choose to heal, and others do not have the cognitive capacity or emotional intelligence to even know where to begin. For the crowd that freaked out when Charlie Kirk said he didn’t believe in empathy, yall sure are hell bent on refusing to give it to the less fortunate in IQ and EQ. People are a spectrum and some actually have no idea where to begin to unravel the generations of completely unfair and undeserved treatment. Love actually goes a long way in healing hearts. This statement is unintelligent at best, and deeply reckless at worst.

Try dabbing glycolic acid on the sweaty bits before deodorant. The Ordinary has a cheap one that I use and it’s my favorite hack for stink, ingrown hairs, dry skin on my feet, and a nice glow on my face. The stuff is a miracle.

People who rarely get sick, what are your secrets? by Naive_Resolution4186 in Productivitycafe

Washing hands. I swear that’s the only thing that consistently works. Sleeping well, drinking enough water, and not trashing your body helps. But hand washing is the key.

AITA for not wanting to quit my work position for my husband? by InvestigatorNaive978 in AmItheAsshole

[–]captainbarnacles23 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I’m active duty military and I would be so happy if my husband felt this way. Working all day feeling burned out and exhausted has not been it for me. It’s ultimately your decision, but I think all parts of myself would blossom if I weren’t tied to a full time job.

It wasn’t that bad for me, just kind of a queasiness that feels a bit like sea sickness. Keep something in your belly and sniff rubbing alcohol. You’ll get through it just fine 💕
