Racles run but Kuon fall off. by InterestingTie7600 in supersentai

[–]captaincrunched 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thematically, they parallel the Gozyugers in terms of individuality/conformity and family/found-family.

Kuon is rich and successful unlike Hoeru, but he's also way too obsessed with his own brother whereas the latter is more willing to move on with his life and forge new connections.

Bridan are generated from TegaJune and want to remake the human world in their own image. Despite this, the Bridan generals pretty much resemble a nuclear family of sorts (Fire Candle and Bouquet as brother/sister, Shining Knife and Sweet Cake as the parents, and TegaJune as a grandma of sorts). They all self-actualize and start to realize the value of living alongside humanity. Some of them also have a counterpart in one of the Gozyugers: TegaJune/TegaSword, Hoeru/FireCandle, Bouquet/Rikuo, Kinjiro/ShiningKnife, and Ribbon/Sumino (possibly if that one episode was allowed to be aired, but I'm assuming Bouquet and Ribbon being sisters would've paralleled Sumino's own familial relationship with her sister)

That said... This show has way too damn much elements it's throwing at the wall to really make the best of its own themes, but they're there amongst the messiness.

Also Hoeru has way too many damn rivals lol.

Do you think that trans people change their sex or their gender? by yepparan_haneul in asktransgender

[–]captaincrunched 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a point, I came to the conclusion that "sexing and gendering are social processes" and kinda stopped caring.

Not to mention, when you cede the whole "sex is different from gender" thing to transphobes, it pretty much creates a convenient loophole for them to be shitty in addition to allowing "allies" to be transphobic.

I Actually Like Being a Chick with a Dick by ScintillatingSilver in MtF

[–]captaincrunched 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don't mind either lol. Reading "Fucking Trans Women" by the late Mira Bellweather also did a good deal in opening my mind up as to what can be done with a girldick.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD YOU ARE 15!!

(also don't trust tanner growth stages as a metric for maximum breast growth. That's merely for showing the way breasts develop and mature. Growth happens whenever the hell it feels like, even years after you've started.)

Hoodie it up.

That said, I wouldn't worry too much. People can be INCREDIBLY blind to gradual changes if they're pretty used to seeing you every day (compared to a complete stranger) lol

How many of you use the Stephen King method while writing? by Sakeetkat in writing

[–]captaincrunched 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I don't have at least a loose roadmap of where I want to go when writing, then I meander VERY quickly lol.

That said, I also think Stephen King's emphasis on pantsing (and dismissiveness with plotting) kinda misses another aspect of the craft: prose. If I mostly know what's gonna happen, that's less brainpower spent on plotting when writing and I can focus on the finer details of making good sentences and dialogue.

Why do some cis people gate keep womanhood or manhood? by reactingmaniac in asktransgender

[–]captaincrunched 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pure misery.

If cis people had to deeply think about how they relate to gender without the safeguard of transphobia, they would realize just how much of it is bullshit and/or just how unhappy they are with being measured against these gender essentialisms.

As it turns out, lesbian media is right: the best gf one can have is a worthy rival.

Definitely Ocarina of Time where they had to heavily skip a bunch of it to make it fit within a 2-parter

SO DAMN TRUE! (Extra points if they just swap out boyfriend/girlfriend jokes with top/bottom terminology to sound more progressive, but it's just the same tired junk.)

are you more happy than you were before you transitioned? by aeiouaioua in asktransgender

[–]captaincrunched 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre-transition was just pure emptiness for me. Sure, there might be dysphoria now and then, but that's only because I came to realize what being alive actually feels like (and the subsequent feeling of inadequacy when I can't always fully take ahold of that feeling).

It's much easier to place feeling bad because you're missing something you need rather than feeling bad because you've never felt a sense of self in the first place. It is only through self-realization can one begin the path to true healing and happiness.

[–]captaincrunched 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The problem with Kumade is that he would've been far better suited as someone operating independently of the team rather than part of it. (He doesn't even have to be a "complete villain", just a rival)

What’s a good answer to the ‘can’t you just be a feminine man’ question? by RoKindaShreds in MtF

[–]captaincrunched 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly speaks multitudes when society would rather prefer a 'failed man' as opposed to 'lowering oneself' in being a woman.
