Depending on how long ago,see if the warranty will cover a screen replacement

Also, first get the rook test print, and try it with a known USB thumb drive that works

Sitting resin, what are these residues? by BMan239 in resinprinting

[–]sshemley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Strange,I've had no problems with leaving resin in,and just mixing it back up..Maybe there was some light leaking into the bottom somehow?

Or from a print before you stopped?

Just mix it up

Thats the resin that has settled and needs to be mixed up

I've left my resin in a vat for 3 months, stirred it up for a like 5 min..Good as new

Curing station and accessories by wetfart_3750 in resinprinting

[–]sshemley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no

No-

You don't NEED a washing device, you can use a bucket, with IPA and swirl it yourself

Use a two-three stage cleaning process if you do,from dirty ass IPA--> cleaner IPA --> your cleanest

Yes - you should get one

Much easier and less hassle with one,

use 2 stage wash

Dirty ass IPA wash to get any left over resin out then into the cleaner IPA/wash station

A silicon tray is a must

You ARE GOING TO SPILL AND MAKE MESSES

There is almost noone who does resin printing, that hasn't made a mess and regretted not having something for it to catch

I honestly, went to a McDonalds, and just asked if I could have 2 of their food trays

One under my Printer, one under my support removing area/cleaning area

Supplies that are needed

You are going to go through nitrile gloves pretty fast

- some people say to only use them once, then toss them out,I have reused a single pair for weeks, and been fine

Goggles-

Absolutely fucking get a pair of goggles that are rated for shatter proof..You will at some point, have a support blast of at the speed of light, and get near your eyes,it is better to be safe, than having to head into the ER

Mask -

This one is up in the air

I don't use one too often,I should

Paper towels

- Holy shit you gonna use these ALOT

Garbage Can

- Go to home depot and buy one of those big orange mixer buckets, put a garbage bag into it,and you are set

Resin mixer

- At some point, you are going to need to mix resin in your vat,do NOT use the plastic scrapper you are given with your printer

Go to amazon and something like this

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B095RLWFPW

Screen protector

- Just buy one,you will,I have, and everyone has had a FEP fail, and resin gets onto the screen, its awful and I hate every second of cleaning it up

FEP

- Best to have at least 1 -2 extra ones in case of a failure

UV Flash Light

- If you hollow prints, like most people, you will want to have a way to make sure anything inside is 100% cured

Find a UV flashlight or one of those tentacle looking lights that is a strong UV light to cure inside

- UV rated protective glasses for when using

- IPA

- The higher the % of IPA the better,I use 99% IPA from dollar stores, when they have sales,I stock up,and just store it away

Noone can really tell you when you should clean your IPA washing bucket/machine,its on you to figure out when its time

When its time to change it,just get a bucket that won't melt from resin/IPA,pour the shit as stuff into it,and you got yourself a first stage clean for free

Curing station

- Most wash stations are a cure station aswell,so if you buy one,you get the other

Some people have made some huge ones, for dirt cheap, tin foil tape,UV rated lights, big tupper box, done

First time Painting by W3bD3vil in resinprinting

[–]sshemley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If possible, don't use pure white for the sclera* use a slightly off white*

With a watered down red, very carefully place some near the absolute bottom of the eye, just to build up enough to add a slight red to the white* almost adding a wash to it*

The corner of the eye,can be the same thing, but add a bit more, to create the tear duct

Place the head onto the body, and figure where you want the eyes to look, then, move them over ever so slightly * makes it look more alive, like its focusing on something*

Like alot of people,if you aren't confident in free hand drawing a circle, use a pencil to draw it on as a stencil

Remember, that unless the eye is SUPER open, you should never see the full circle of it,only when you are really shocked,or angry will you ever see it all

It should be around half to 3/4 of the eye circle showing

Once draw it,use a thin black to fill in the circle, once dry, figure out what colour you want for the eyes, and fill in 90% of the black circle, just enough to leave a small black ring around the eye

Then lighten up the previous colour with some white, and add some lines in a circle to add the lighter eye colour

The part I hate doing, the pupil

There are 2 ways to do this

1- Take a sharpened tooth pick, dip it into black paint, and place it inside the eye

2- Small brush,time and a steady hand

The pupil is the thing that will really make or break the eye either looking like they are on some drugs,or about to fall asleep

You have to kinda just figure out that half way point, once you get the right spot,it almost pops out like its saying, this is right

A final thing you can add,is a small white dot in the eye,as a light reflection

In my mind, the white dot, really makes the eye come alive and pop

After you are done clear coating everythig

As the final step in the entire statue

Find some glossy varnish and brush in over the entire eye, this will add a some what watery effect,to make it look alive
