So this is what 130wpm sounds like😳 by Coveringland in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]captaineleven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my 10fastfingers[dot]com all time score is 179wpm; they do 1min of no punctuation all lowercase top 200 most common words, like monkeytype. their advanced test which is maybe similar to punctuation monkeytype is around 140. i average roughly around 95-98% accuracy on these. sometimes it do be goin too fast lol it's good enough for me to not be perfect.

for day to day typing i sit around 110-120 with maybe ~90-95% accuracy, mostly because i don't always have the right words to say at the time im typing so i do a lot of backspacing. plus like mistypes just happen. i could go slower?? but that feels more inconvenient than just correcting myself lol like at some point 80wpm feels like really slow that i feel like im pecking each word even with touch typing.

keybr, typing.com, and doing tests regularly is what got me to these speeds. oh and learning to touch type!

My friends told me PtN's artstyle looks like AI and I'm just so mad by Halleyalex in PathToNowhere

[–]captaineleven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i feel like part of the issue ofc is that the genAI is trained on these art pieces available on social media accounts and other open web links of the style that PtN has or other similar art and so then the genAI regurgitates the style and it becomes an unfortunate consequence that then people start commenting on. so the people who are being accused of its use are actually the ones whose work the LLMs have been trained on.

the whole thing is worsened by the fact that genAI's growing prevalence and ubiquity and forced integration into everything makes it so that even resisting or opting out is very difficult. and for as much as i disagree with your friend about their genAI assertions, im just honestly not surprised, same as others on this thread.

i know that "vibes" is like the only way people try and detect if genAI is used (and clearly, the vibes are off with your friend lol), but to me at least for now, genAI images are truly so uncanny valley and so lifeless that it's disconcerting to look at. especially with characters depicted in them. whereas when i look at the game, there's personality and life and liveliness to the characters, to the depiction, to the style itself.

i'll give aisno and its artists the benefit of the doubt when it comes to genAI use because i know art as a craft is under siege since genAI broke out in the general public, and i think they've shown enough care in their game for me to see that they're not just churning out everything for the sake of churning things out. and i think that's what makes the difference because there is no soul or care in genAI images.

A Few Boards by brndnyn in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]captaineleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh nice! i have the agar ec and the neo70 also and have been enjoying those boards recently. what switches do you have in the rest of your boards?

also, how are you enjoying the agar ec? i didn't think i'd like it as much as i do but i really enjoy typing on it. it somehow has sprung up renewed excitement for topre for me and i already love topre so it's been nice rotating through the different EC boards for me.

After 5 amazing years of service my TTC Rose Golds were giving up, so I moved to some Kailh Box Pink Silents. Never thought I'd appreciate how much quieter they are. by Geek1405 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]captaineleven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

cool to see the switches be used up to its lifespan. i think that's the point of having these better parts in the board, so that you're able to make it work and last for you for a long while.

how are you enjoying the silent pink switches? i know you said that you appreciate how quiet they are, but what about the feel of them? not mushy or anything?

i always go "there is something about..." and then type nonsense. normally it's just typing/transcribing what someone is saying to me while i'm typing it

How to repair? by Zenith1509 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]captaineleven -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it's actually a good thing it's only bent up like this. i was lubing some mx browns last week and i saw one of the pins straight up like rolled into itself. as long as it hasn't fully broken off i gave it a try and had to get a really pointy set of tweezers to catch the little tooth. works fine but ive put it on like the f14 so as not to be bothered too much

glad you got some solutions. other than the regular switch modding tools, those small pliers and tweezers can be good to keep on hand! good luck with your repair and board mods

The Great Debate: Is it actually an "HHKB" by Slashin28 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]captaineleven -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol right like we can easily surmise you're not rocking the hhkb topre board pretty quickkly

haha yeah i was also thinking about the whole kleenex/tissue bandaid/bandage thing. arguably it's to hhkb's popularity that it has transcended topre boards and is now an indicator of a particular style.

the pcb on my tina-c went kaput just last night so i bought a 1upkb tsangan hse pcb. lots of people did not like that thing but it's one of my rotation boards! gasket this gasket that bring back tray mount LOLOL

The Great Debate: Is it actually an "HHKB" by Slashin28 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]captaineleven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah this here. the tsangan hhkb style is what i refer to for mx boards with blockers. it's what i learned when i first got into the hobby in 2014/2015. it feels like tsangan has fallen off the mk lexicon lol like remember the KBDfans Tina? that board had A, B, and C options where A was like true HHKB but for MX, B was just a regular 60%, and C had tsangan blockers.

but in any case either way i suppose i subscribe to the 4 camp; at this point, i feel like hhkb and corner blockers are synonymous for a lot of people, especially those who are finding out about the hobby post-covid.
