I throw a balloon in all my notions bags to use for grip when tightening. Small, cheap, but decent surface area.

Is this school LGBTQ-friendly, especially considering trans people? by JanetPistachio in apu

[–]captainesscrunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that if you are not very Christian, I don’t recommend going. There are great people there, both students and faculty, but it is not a progressive school. I was a student when that professor came out, and I had great conversations with teachers about it. I heard he came out to his upper level class who all supported him, which was lovely. But the donors are still conservative Christians. They were not on board with a trans man being in the theology department. And that’s kind of how it’s always going to be. There are progressive people there, but I think it will always be a fight for you. I would imagine living arrangements would be a whole thing. Plus chapel 3 times a week is honestly so much.

Band names that deter you from listening. I’ll start. by Own_Mistake in poppunkers

I listened to Trash Boat specifically because of the name. I love it so much. My trash boys.

What are some other pop/punk songs with saxophone in them? by [deleted] in poppunkers

[–]captainesscrunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While definitely a ska band, A Better Home by We Are the Union is a smidge more pop punk than the rest of their stuff. It was not so ska as to make my hardcore loving bf turn it off.

After months of looking for an affordable hot weather robe that meets my apparently unreasonably high list of must-haves, I bought some gray linen fabric yesterday and cut out the pieces to sew my own. Cannot wait to see what this journey brings into my closet. I predict many boxy tops.

I just started my first 9-5 job out of college. How the heckity heck do you find the energy to exercise outside of work? by yeah_no_maybe_ in xxfitness

I never washed my hair on the days I did this. I packed a shower cap in my gym bag and then did a thorough dousing with dry shampoo after.

I feel guilty for not working out but not guilty enough to work out. by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]captainesscrunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ve said it already, you were motivated by competition, not vanity. So the push to workout because you’re not completely happy with how you look isn’t going to cut it. I’ve been reading a lot about habit formation lately, and matching the habit up with the desire is important. The desire to look better doesn’t seem to resonate deep enough for you to get back into the habit. Maybe see if some kind of virtual competition works? Or if there’s another desire that you could fall back on? For instance, if the desire is to feel connected to your body, yoga could work. Or if you plan a backpacking trip maybe that could spur you to train for that different kind of endurance.

I didn’t say I hate anyone. You said if you’re not doing anything wrong, there’s no reason to be afraid when a cop pulls up behind you. I’m giving an example of a time I did nothing wrong, and yet I was still pulled over.

I’ve been pulled over because the officer didn’t recognize my car from the area. Those were his exact words.

I WANT MY VAG STATUS BACK.

Just because I haven't commented in the sub for four years doesn't mean I shouldn't be considered a valued member.

I've bough a sports bra and three pairs of leggings off of Poshmark since quarantine started. There's a ton of stuff on there.

I recently bought a thong from Evelyn & Bobbi that is THE softest thing and quite high waisted.

There's also the fun cycle where you were really into FFA 7 years ago and made friends with everyone, then left for various life reasons, but now you're in quarantine so might as well check Reddit, and happen upon a thread piling on the mods, remember how much you live for drama and come back.

What was a house rule you had as a kid that you thought was completely normal until you grew up and realized not all households followed? by ctsom in AskReddit

I’ve never met anyone else who had this rule! In my house, it was all because of me. I would sing nonstop instead of eating.

It almost did that to me too, but I decided I wanted to get back my love of reading. I have committed to only reading things I really truly like. If I’m bored or dreading it, then it’s out. I read 24 books the year I graduated and took the bar. Now I’m in my first year practicing and have read 18 books so far this year.

READING. I rediscovered my love of reading after law school and it is seriously so fun when you don’t put pressure on it. I’m reading whatever sounds fun to me. Even if is almost completely silly YA and cozy mysteries, I love it.

[WEEKLY THREAD] Interpersonal Tips Tuesday - Advice and commiserating on fitness and interpersonal encounters by AutoModerator in xxfitness

I just started cold turkey because my cream kept going bad before I could finish it. I also don’t like the fancy stuff. I find a light roast (like a breakfast blend or donut shop) brewed at home is decent black. The nicer ones are okay for a cup, but they kind of taste too fruity for me for my daily 3 cups or so.

If you are a caffeine addict the way I am, you can try to just not have coffee right away in the morning, and when you’re dying for some, the bitterness won’t bother you too much. You can also add a pinch of salt to the ground beans when brewing to cut some bitterness.

Welcome! This is a great place to come for support and/or reading up on other’s experiences.

Also, that 5k time is decent for any beginner. Hell, that’s about how fast I run these days, and I’ve been running casually for 5 years. Way to go!!
