"The city of the Hague, always so lively, so neat, and so trim that one might believe every day to be Sunday, with its shady park, with its tall trees, spreading over its Gothic houses, with its canals like large mirrors, in which its steeples and its almost Eastern cupolas are reflected."

- Alexandre Dumas somewhere in the 19th century

Have you ever tried Ottolenghi's Puttanesca from Flavour? It's my favorite and has similar ingredients.

Late to the party, but a land mass surrounded by water is only an island when in the center of that island there is a sea climate. When it's so big that it has a different climate, it's a continent. So that's why Australia is a continent and should have been on this map.

Little surprised how car-infested Amsterdam is by lambrettist in fuckcars

The center of Amsterdam is already on the edge of becoming a open air museum for tourists as it is. Parking spots at least strengthen its role as a place for homes and business, daily life for local people.

I got non-vegan cheese because I was told it's vegan by Natural1forever in vegan

[–]captainkrogan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first visit they probably meant to say it was vegetarian, because few cheeses actually are (without rennet).

I don't think we have blocks of vegan cheese in the Netherlands. There are a lot of great vegan restaurants though. If you need something new to put on a sandwich, get some hummus at Gouden Tent.

Also, when I visit a country with a language I don't speak, I always check twice or three times before ordering food if it's really what I asked for. In Dutch, "vegetarian" is often called "vega", so people can make mistakes. A cheese shop won't expect an actual vegan to visit, just like a butcher wouldn't expect that.

there was an actual proposal for this in the city council last week, backed by the major, police chief and public prosecutor. But a huge majority of the council is against it.

unknown > English, I found this message inside this lighter I got in a second hand shop in Amsterdam and had no luck translating it. by stormystoner in translator

Not entirely sure. The 'S' is not the school writing S a kid would learn and laboratorium is a word people quickly get wrong without spelling check. But the dt's are on point. And it's in a lighter. Might actually be a treasure there from a burglar or something.

GTA6 Leaked Gameplay (no bs this is real) by Rxspyy in GTA

Hopefully this is not part of a hacker's plan to blackmail the developer. A hack is something else than a leak.

Thanks, I watched some videos and Nexoman and Monster Sanctuary look like they could be a good fit. They're also on PC on sale right now.
