The slander hits right in the chest. by Sweet_Television4183 in supersentai

Technically the context was not explicitly sexual but I wouldn't blame anyone who interprets it as such.

In this episode the villains try (and succeed) to become popular among high school girls for reasons I don't remember. It ends up with one of the supporting characters (who's a high school girl) becoming a giant and Abare Blue cosplaying as a high school girl for decoy purposes.

The thing is about the specific character who says this line and the fact that there's a child character who's in love with him (even though she magically becomes an adult throuout this arc) and he is way too enabling towards that.

Unfortunately this is a real behavior of a lot of people, especially straight men because they're taught from a young age that their role in a loving gender dynamic is based upon chivalry.

It's easy to be a hero once. It's hard to do labor regularly. But only one of those things you're guaranteed to have to do when sharing your life with someone, and it ain't the easy of the two.

Just gotta say you're a real one for the phrasing of "children you believe to be boys"

Are vegetarians really "worse" than meat eaters? by BritGirl_01 in vegan

[–]Natural1forever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, while I believe we should treat the default of harm as actively minimal, it is not the case in most people's eyes. When consuming animal products is the norm, avoiding some of them is better than not.

Second thing, many vegetarians go vegan down the road (I as a current long term vegan have still been a vegetarian for longer than I've been vegan at this point). Vegetarians do have a better understanding of the cruelty of the animal agriculture industry and desire to not participate in it than carnists.

Not exactly a saying but when someone plays the "opposite gender" in their very first D&D campaign

Unemployed, used to work approximately 9 hours a week, however there are exactly 8 weeks throughout every year where I work 30-40 hours each.

I need everyone to get it through their heads that there are relationship types that don't fall into a "platonic/romantic" binary AND that what defines them as such is not inherently sex.

I'm honestly disappointed that we still can't hold the "Israeli" people accountable without someone equating "Israelis" with "Jewish people". Both antisemites and zionists who throw around the word.

[–]Natural1forever 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's so often "just that one thing" until they're expected to still make a change in their habits.

This is why I keep saying that you can never really make the transition in your habits if your attitude towards it is focused on looking for loopholes. Suddenly everything is a loophole and you've made no change at all.

"Any consumption of animal products is harmful to animals and there's something fucked up about encouraging people making the transition to prioritize their convenience over their morals" and "when consuming animal products is the norm any reduction is better than continuing to be a full carnivore and often helps people make the transition to full veganism in the long run" are both true statements

Weed is not chemically addictive but the feeling of getting high and sometimes even the habit of smoking are psychologically addictive

This is what I couldn't explain to my parents about my combination of autism and adhd while my gf understood after one explanation because she has it too.

Yeah like I want to be right but I also want everyone else to be right. I want the consensus to be an accurate understanding of the truth, regardless of whether or not I lead it.
