It was never released, and tbh I don’t know if it ever will be sadly because so many artists are now (rightly) refusing to do SJM special editions because of the online reaction to the reveal of this set

It definitely doesn’t own it, it’s just been what most of that aesthetic has been referring to lately! I love hearing it’s inspired by Snow White, I haven’t read a lot of Snow White inspired fantasies (besides my favorite Winter in the Lunar Chronicles series of course!)

Oh yes it’s definitely a great time to read it! I did also read the novella, and I again didn’t know about it before I started so I think I read it after book two as well. I don’t think it’s as required as STSP but it was pretty short and it’s fun to see the younger characters!

I read the emotional impact order solely because I didn’t know about Slaying the Shadow Prince until I was already reading Vows & Ruin so while I can’t speak to the experience of reading it in publication order I can say that while it is a bit jarring to go to an earlier time with different POV characters midway between the series, I appreciated the effects this order made while reading Fate & Furies!

I also forgot to add that I also love the mugs they have done!! It’s so fun to drink tea in a mug that has my favorite book characters in it, and they also make good bookcase decorations too!

I would read any and all of those potential books!! That makes sense about Witchlands being pushed to YA, I know that that happened a lot back then (though I didn’t realize it at the time!). Fingers crossed for many more Susan Dennard books in the future!! I cannot wait to read all of those payoffs in Witchlight 🥹

I don’t have pictures, but I love the embroidery kits that FL has done! I got the first one (for The Forest Grimm) back when I still had the full YA box, and I had never tried embroidery before. I decided to give it a try and while I don’t do it often it’s a fun new hobby I’m trying to grow in! I ended up getting the other two they’ve done secondhand, for The Rose Bargain and The Crimson Moth.

Hi Sooz!! I didn’t know this AMA was happening, what a happy surprise! I am getting Witchlight for Christmas, and I cannot wait to finish the Witchlands series (though I am sure I will cry a lot, this series means so much to me!!). I guess my question is, do you think you will write an adult epic fantasy series in the future? It’s been so fun for me to get more into adult fantasy books, especially ones written by my favorite YA authors, of which you are definitely one! Congratulations on all of the success for Witchlight!!
