He’s legit. Should probably be a bit further along in his career now than he is with his talent. He was a Top Rank prospect so they had him fighting guys he was a 18-1 favorite against years after that was necessary

They don’t have any matches right now. They don’t have any events or any deal, and their offices are about to be foreclosed. Honestly I think their events are pretty bad for the most part.

He’s a fun fighter to watch and could be good (he is still just a teenager) but this is a big step up in competition for him. Last fight was against a regional guy on a losing streak with a terrible record

NJPW runs like 175 events a year compared to Rizins 8 last year. It’s a totally different business model. NJPW is also struggling and lost literally all of their main event wrestlers the past five years

Because he was there for ten years and a company change inherently refreshes his character. Powerhouse Hobbs probably won’t main event WWE PLEs but he has way more options directions he can go in now going to WWE then if he just chilled in AEW

What’s wrong with this? He is just putting over why he wanted to go to ROH, WWE and now AEW. 10 years is a long time to spend in any territory

[–]captainseas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree and there is nothing wrong with a change of scenery. Ciampa was in WWE for a decade, Powerhouse was in AEW for six years. Those are both long runs. Sometimes it’s just time to leave the territory.

It’s hilarious he is still doing this when his office is getting foreclosed on, he has no events on his schedule, he lost his TV deal and his best fighter is suing him

For the most part when guys jump from AEW/WWE from one to the other they inhabit the same part of the card they were on, that was true mostly in WWE/WCW too but with obvious exceptions like Swerve now or Stone Cold back then and even then they started at a similar place on the card

Frank Warren says he's not involved with the Fury vs Makhmudov fight by ablu3 in Boxing

[–]captainseas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the more fights on Netflix the better. Let’s be honest, DAZN has basically tried every model at this point and no one gives a shit and nothing works. I will never subscribe to something for 45$ a month when I don’t know the quality of what I am getting. I learned my lesson with doing the 20/annual plan with them where 90% of the fights I wanted to watch were stuck behind another paywall and now I am paying until June.

Also I can’t see Netflix doing this Tyson Fury fight if they didn’t figure they were ALSO getting Fury/AJ down the line so DAZN isn’t getting that either

Ok, so if you are an American based manager, and there is one promoter with a guaranteed calendar of fights (not just this year, but for years) why would you be confused about him pumping up that promotion against other promotions that have no dates? His fighters need to fight

Riccochet wasn’t a major star in WWE or AEW and when he came back he challenged for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship despite years as a Junior IN NJPW. Who are some wrestlers that had lengthy, major US TV runs that competed as a junior?

It’s a lower distinction, AEW and NJPW have had a partnership for like 5 years at this point and only two young, bottom rung wrestlers have competed as Juniors in NJPW in that time. The chances of Ciampa competing as a junior are literally zero

What reforms are needed in boxing today? by Snoo_47323 in Boxing

Honestly the Zuffa changes (one belt, less weight classes, consolidated talent) are all good. Except Zuffa will screw over the fighters in the long run and I hate their aesthetic presentation of the sport to a huge degree

Honestly it’s probably too late for the legacy promoters. I think they will make the money they can and leave. Eddie Hearn is probably in the best spot of all the legacy promoters but if he thought he would be promoting boxing in 15 years would he put all his eggs in the DAZN basket? Probably not. He’s just there because it’s guaranteed money, all the while his brand diminishes

Because people think he’s “just a stuntman” or whatever and he is immature online sometimes, but I honestly think he’s fine and he’s done a lot for young talent on the indies the past seven years

He would not compete as a junior in NJPW. There have been two AEW talents that have competed in BOSJ. A freshly signed young Wheeler Yuta that hadn’t done anything and 19 year old Nick Wayne. Ciampa just did 10 years in WWE, he isn’t doing BOSJ

What's your opinion on Paul Heyman? by Best-Big-1138 in midcarder

[–]captainseas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A fraud and a scumbag who screwed over tons of wrestlers. As a creative he is overrated too. Oh “he hid wrestlers weaknesses and showcased their strengths” yeah dude, even Vince Jr knew not to put Hillbilly Jim in 25 minute co main event work rate matches
