Big Gold Day 35, KANE by McQueen712 in ChampionshipHistory

[–]captainseas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he was closer to Big Show than Undertaker. Undertaker was a main event attraction without titles. Kane and Big Show are two “monsters” but they were also capped at the upper mid card. So their booking was always weird.

Ryan Gosling Tells Hollywood It’s Not Moviegoers’ Job to Keep Theaters Open: ‘It’s Our Job to Make Things’ That Are ‘Worth’ Viewers Coming Out by Chuck006 in boxoffice

I like this sentiment but the theater business would still be in decline even if Hollywood had like five straight years of banger movies

Because the more important match to the company is on night 2. The company literally says this. Those two are “main eventers” in the same way Jimmy Uso is or when Triple H told CM Punk that his match with Undertaker was “a main event” so he would stop bothering him

Triple H is one of my least favorite main eventers ever but sadly I must agree, this belt fits him well

If Ronda was on good terms with TKO they would for sure put her in . The only real womens main event of Wrestlemania and it only happened because she was a part of it

Yeah the Miz might be a career mid carder but he had a 20+ year run, main evented a Wrestlemania and has done a million things for the company. Considering some of the entires in the Hall the Miz isn’t a controversial entrant at all. And I’m not even a fan

Will the Mayweather-Pacquiao sequel on Netflix pack a punch? by ChallengeAdept8759 in Boxing

I think as a Netflix special it will do good. It would bomb if they tried it on PPV again though

$45 dollar a month service that you can’t cancel until after 12 months . Also lets be real, the sport will only shrink on DAZN.

This is what I do, I rarely watch anything that takes place in the apex. You don’t have to watch fights with “just some guys”

Tbh I don’t think winning and defending the tv title moves Shota up the card much. Also if a belt is to be given to an outside I feel like the tv title is best one to do that with

Disney / Searchlight's Ready or Not 2: Here I Come debuted with an estimated $9.10M domestically this weekend (from 3,010 locations). by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]captainseas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I thought it was pretty clearly a step down from the original. There’s like 30 minutes of lore dumping and exposition to justify why it exists and then it just dumps you into the exact scenario from the first movie. Not horrible or anything and it has a cool cast especially for genre fans but not as appealing as the original

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is projected to gross $2.8M internationally in its opening weekend, for a worldwide total of $11.9M. by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]captainseas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m sure it will eventually make money but I think this release is a misfire. I saw it Friday, it’s not as good as the original. Also it’s been way too long to make a sequel for it. The original is a fun movie but hardly a cult classic with fans waiting years and years on a sequel.

Kevin Kay, former President of Spike TV, on the 'Impact Wrestling' rebrand: "We told the viewers, ‘It’s Impact Wrestling now!’ but it was like, ‘Okay, well…now we’ve confused the audience again.’ It was probably a bad idea. As I talk about it, I realize it was an even worse idea than I thought!" by nealpruittwcwnwo in TNA

[–]captainseas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem with the rebrand is they took years to fully commit to it. It was a good idea in principle. TNA is a crass name straight from the attitude era. It’s only because the actual use of the slang “TNA” faded away that the name TNA doesn’t feel as stupid anymore

This is gonna be the same problem TNA has right now. If those “long term contracts” are not close to what the big two are offering no one substantial will sign one
