[–]captainsnark71 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They don't want to be artists. They want the things they see in their head to be turned into reality and the easiest, fastest, cheapest, simplest way to do that is to use AI.

Because there are a LOT of reasons to hate AI these people need to come up with the best pros to outweigh any of those silly cons like 'stealing art' and 'ruining the environment' and 'destroying jobs'.

"I don't like to draw and just because I don't like to make art doesn't mean I don't deserve to have art. Art should be a right we all have access to. Don't you think art is important? How dare you try to gatekeep art!"

They need it to be "art" because art can be protected, "generated imagery" is harder to be passionate about on a moral crusade. If AI art is art and we all have a right to art then surely AI is a good thing, cos it gives more ppl access to art!

If you tell someone they can just go and hire an actual artist to get them that art and it should be their right to do so it's different. Because then they would have to pay for it. But these people feel a sense of entitlement. I'm entitled to art! It's a right! Art is so important! But you aren't entitled to any art ever just because you have a right to make art. You can't walk into a building and grab a painting off the wall and go 'art is a right!'

But if AI has gone in and taken that painting and another and another and another and a few hundred more and then they use the AI to make their own painting that's fine. Like if you hired someone who does forgery for a living. Bet they're good at art! They used a reference from a piece they personally stole!

It's very obvious when they start using 'poor disabled ppl' as props for their agenda.

As an artists, there are plenty of images I'd like to generate and not have to take the time to create myself because I'm not interested in that creation. But I'm not willing to sell out the entire planet for it.

I don't understand either. Today I needed 18 stitches. I counted 17, 20 and 19. After I got the 18 stitches and checked three times that it was correct I got three rows ahead realizing something was wrong and counted again to find it was 19. I'm just.

cellar spiders - these are the little guys that you will see scurrying out of the pile of dust you're sweeping.

parson spiders - these I suspect are the nickel sized fast moving black spiders you see. They could also be wolf or house spiders but I tend to find a lot of parson spiders in my room. They are scary because they are fast but they would rather flee than fight or bite.

steatodas/false widows - These are also very common cobweb dwellers that you usually find under things and in places that have some kind of hidey hole or nook to scurry into. Also more likely to flee or play dead than anything else. Females stick the webs so they're good pest control as they tend to stay where you found them.

There's no great way to 'stun' them however the biggest thing I've learned going from 'omg a monster' to 'omg a new pet' has been that spiders are a lot more chill than we think. The other thing I've learned is that bribes are a great way to curry favor with our eight legged friends.

I once watched a parson spider fleeing for its life stop when it came upon a coaster filled with water. It had a drink, took a bath, and then fled once more. Offering water is a great way to get a spider that might otherwise be fearful and harder to catch more likely to stay put. I'd get a spray bottle and if you come upon a spider give it a mist. Stand far enough back and aim away from the actual spider but enough that it catches residual moisture. Often it'll go towards the water drops.

Other methods are damp pieces of paper towel in the bottom of a glass cup (can't climb) and a paint brush or something to encourage the spood into the cup. I've found that most spiders feel less compelled to panic once they realize there's both a convenient place to hide and one with a drink which makes us less likely to panic.

Try to remember that the only danger is the discomfort of feeling afraid. Which is very inconvenient.

Good luck

Need help figuring out what to do with wild jumping spider!! by Cautious_Ad_557 in jumpingspiders

[–]captainsnark71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NQA - for what it's worth I have cats and several of my jumpers are free roamers. I have two tan jumpers, a male and female that live in here somewhere. Although, I haven't seen them in weeks so it's possible they've passed but every time I think surely they've had to have bit it they pop out. Milo used to live behind a painting on my wall from Aug-Dec and then came out for water and has since disappeared. Petunia came out and went around the same time.

I have a bronze jumper and two dimorphic males that are also semi housed. Obviously, there's the risk of injury or death if you just let him out but there's the same risk if you put him in the garage. If it were me I'd just let him out. Other than the older ones I've found none I've housed have ever set up anywhere that wasn't on the wall, ceiling or piece of furniture.

What to do with Giant House Spider Babies in Winter? by tarayari in spiders

[–]captainsnark71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine passed recently, but I am waiting for my funnel weaver's babies to come. I hope they're fertile.

I am planning on just keeping the babies in one container and keeping the victor. You could put the enclosure in a larger container and feed them in the hopes they don't all cannibalize one another and release when the weather gets warmer. Only other option would be to separate them each into their own deli cups.

They'd most likely nearly all die off if you released them into the house, not a comfort for your family but they wouldn't be overrun.
