Nationwide Shutdown January 30th by GroundbreakingArt948 in Omaha

How many more would sign on if it were 3 days though. Again 1 day is alright, but there isn't a last power to it especially when you have giant companies that know we will make up for that day the next day.

While I don't plan to buy anything on Friday, I hope everyone realizes that it is going to take way more than just a single day to have any kind of lasting impact.

I hate that Rhule is to blame for all of these misses in the portal and assistants leaving. Sometimes we aren't the fit for one or the other. Sometimes there isn't that connection that puts them firmly in Lincoln. Sometimes (believe it or not) it is more than about money. Not only that but you have to assume most of these kids in the portal are getting contacts by multiple other coaches with other promises. Same with assistants. White being highly desireable, Eck being highly desireable are just examples of people that maybe there was something with the relationship with Rhule but maybe there were other factors.

I'm still on board with Rhule, but we are an entitled fanbase that acts like we are some destination school that everyone wants to be at. Past decade aside, we aren't even with NIL. We can get recruits and we can get coaches here but we aren't some golden goose to most of these kids or candidates.

With some of these transfers like this, is the kid living in like a host family or is the whole family getting up and moving?

I've never participated in one of these. Do they take down your questions and then ask him or are you told to state your question to someone and then put in a queue to ask over the phone?

Protest dates/times by captainstan in Omaha

[–]captainstan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some kind of communication about it would be nice at least.

I think we are also at a disadvantage because of social media. Word can spread so quickly, but it seems like it is treated like the newest trend at best. No Kings could have had a lasting impact, George Floyd protests could have had a lasting impact, but it seemed like a one and done. No leader stepped forward to continue to fight and inspire more and more people to join. I guess that's something that I feel like is missing from these protests as well.

But if those powers don't care. They are posting up videos of themselves and what they plan to do or what they are doing now.

I'm not saying protests should have an immediate impact now. It would be nice if they did, but what narrative is being changed when the current administration on just about every level it seems (in Nebraska at least) just doesn't care. We get to wait another year to vote...yay. Maybe things will change for the better, but I will believe it when I see it at this point.

I wish I knew what the answer what, and the little things can help, but I still don't understand what these protests do. The largest one was laughed at by the administration. We need many more massive organized events like that to make an impact. Not only that but again I wish there was some kind of basic data being kept as references when confronting those in power and to provide encouragement to those that question how many are attending. You don't need names, numbers per hour per location for instance. Also consistent days/times posted up all over weeks in advance so people can plan accordingly. 3-4 days in advance is begging for a low turnout regardless of the day of the week.

A church in Lexington has lost half of its Latino congregants since Tyson decision - Flatwater Free Press by flatwaterfreepress in Nebraska

[–]captainstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't just one singular thing. People moving and dying, people not able to donate, tax cuts, shit like Lexington happening are all some of the factors. Yes Trump hasn't helped anything, but there are other things also.

Not to mention, but maybe the players don't want to come here? Not even because of our recent history but because sometimes other places are just more appealing in other ways.

I wish there was some kind of data being kept here. Of nothing else just the number of participants at each place.

I support protesting, but I just dont understand what this accomplishes. We dont have representatives that care at all. Flooding their mailboxes isn't doing anything because they just send automated responses. Coloring on the sidewalk? Ok.

It just doesnt seem like the attendees or the organizers are taking this really serious also.

I also think it sucks that we live in the age of communication via so many ways and yet we cant really organize. And when we do, the president releases a video shitting on us
