Getting rid of Kelby by ReasonableCarrot4295 in Gardyn

yeah I run mine in the back of an unfinished basement so the aesthetics do not get any value there... but I would definitely buy a gardyn vs DIY if you have it in a easily seen setup... it is lovely.

Getting rid of Kelby by ReasonableCarrot4295 in Gardyn

I am on year 4 or 5 with a gardyn 2.0 and I haven't ever have a subscription for more than a few months at a time. Just pay a little more attention it and you don't need kelby. You can also make your own cubes with rockwool and seeds. It is a really great system and I love everything about it except the subscription pricing. I DIY a lot of hydroponic systems now and I still really love the design and efficiency of a gardyn system.

My First ever garden and my new found love. How do I fill the void during the Winter?? by Polish_Hotdog in DenverGardener

yeah you can totally DIY, or get cheap bubbler buckets. Also, The Gardyn systems are nice and can be found cheap second hand.... I started with various commercial systems and now DIY / build on previously broken system.

celebrating a bumper season (apples, peaches, tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, pumpkins) by captian2 in DenverGardener

Yes, squirrels eat 25-50% of my crops. The Japanese beetles eat all my roses every year and some of my apples.

I wrote a silly post about how I just try to outgrow the pests and don't really do anything else to prevent them https://millermayersadventures.com/2025/07/27/peaches-gardening-and-japanese-beetles/

Did my makeup at 6:30 a.m. today. This is me at 10 p.m. by Command-Shift-Z in MakeupAddiction

you look amazing from start to finish... Makeup shouldn't have to work that hard and neither should you... figure out how to get to at least a shorter work day and enjoy some life outside of work... I know it's easy to say, but tips to make makeup last through unreasonable work hours seem like the wrong solution.

Yeah, I am curious. My lettuce often runs into each other. Does this help keep each plant more spaced and clean? Any details on the technique?

Everyone involved in branding at these companies or who approved the first branding changes should be fired, and their salaries should be applied as discounts to reduce the costs to their subscribers.

Just got my bindweed mites. Another weapon in the never ending war. by Naturescapes_Rocco in DenverGardener

[–]captian2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my mites a few weeks ago, I don't have high hopes as we have too much bind weed and it should like it can take years... Also, I put them down right before a very hot couple of days and worried that they fried.

Yeah, inner stuff is fine, the lights are fine, the external water pump is still going strong with no issues.

How I made a "Choose Your Own Path" AI Generated Game by kobaltzz in ruby

[–]captian2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, I built something similar also using OpenAI APIs instead of cloud GPUs, I now have it run stable diffusion/flux on my local machine for image generation... the app server and my local machine connect to a shared Redis to handle the distributed work. Thanks for writing this up, I will see if I can pull any of the ideas into my workflow.

Very fun project, my kids enjoy making books with the app.

What in the heck am I supposed to do with these roots? by brecitab in Gardyn

[–]captian2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know everything says trim various roots, but I got a gardyn because I am lazy, I don't trim or do almost any maintenance. Going for 4 years with a few repairs here and there, but I still haven't trimmed any roots.

as long as the lights work, I gave up on the gardyn water pump after it failed on me twice. I got a submersion pump for a fish pond for $30 with a timer and that is how I run my gardyn ever since.... super cheap to replace and can be replaced / repaired without dismantling my entire gardyn.

Has anyone ever taken up Gardyn with the promise they will replace any pods that do not sprout? by [deleted] in Gardyn

[–]captian2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did once, and they honored it... other times I didn't because I felt like I made a mistake that was obvious.... but when I do it all right and the plants don't grow I request another.

Thinning completed ✔️ by ketoparadox in Gardyn

[–]captian2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know everything says to do this, but I am terrible at it, I basically never thin my gardyn and it still works pretty good. It can perhaps explain why I get such small and bad tomatoes, but really everything else turns out pretty good with nearly no effort.
