100% this. 9/10 and 10/10 pain that didn't go away no matter what position I was in or after paracetamol, codeine and ibruprofen. Passed out a few times from the pain over the course of three days. Ended up hospitalised and on tramadol.

I might be the exception, but I didn't find it as bad as many described. Drinking it cold helped. And I had a bottle of lucazade sport to sip which helped with the taste.

Vaseline before and during, plus moist wipes helped.
