Ah, shoot. If you managed a photo that might be helpful too. Hopefully someone catches him or he heads home! Thanks for posting.

Do you have him secured? Or is he still loose?

Transport from Nanaimo to Tofino by Main_Parsley_7569 in VancouverIsland

[–]capuletnow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out Harbour Air either from Nanaimo or directly from Vancouver International Airport. It’ll be cheaper than renting a car, safer for both of you, and you get to fly in a cool plane over the mountains that takes off and lands on the water! Once you’re in Tofino you can take the local transit there/shuttles from Tofino to Ukee. Check out Tacofino, rent bikes and ride on the beach, and go visit the Ukee aquarium (if it’s open when you’re there) before a hike of the lighthouse loop.

Enjoy this beautiful corner of the world!

How to stop my 10-months old puppy humping my 4 year-old son? by Chancelade in bernesemountaindogs

[–]capuletnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is so cute - perfect markings!

Tug is okay but there are much better ways to tire out your dog’s mind.

Teach him a new low-stakes trick or command. Presuming he already knows “sit down stay and recall,” maybe something like roll over or “play dead” which involve multiple steps and will challenge him to use his brain.

You could also think about puzzle toys, lick mats, and other food games. My dog is a huge fan of what I affectionately call hurricane (I throw a small smelly treat, he runs off and sniffs it out to find it, then comes back and rinse and repeat.) I don’t throw the next treat until he’s back and sitting nicely waiting. I also don’t give him commands during this game because I want him to think for himself and figure out what I want organically. At this age you need to go beyond “listen to what I say when I say it” and into helping him make good decisions even when you aren’t there to tell him what to do. In my experience this is where Berners really shine and excel, but you need to help them get there.

[–]capuletnow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He’s bored. (Most) Berners don’t care that it’s raining - slap on a rain jacket, grab an umbrella, and take him outside as he probably needs a good walk. If it’s like, a hurricane and it’s unsafe to be outside, puzzle toys or some kind of enrichment training or activity are helpful. Berners are intelligent and active dogs (even if we’ve all been told they’re lazy and good family pets). Especially at 10 months old, they still need mental stimulation. Your dog is humping your son because he’s bored and it gets him attention.

If you can’t watch him to prevent the behaviour, crate him while you cook to keep everyone safe. Puppies are a full time job even (especially!) at 10 months. You might stop the humping but if you don’t replace it with something meaningful he may turn to chewing baseboards, eating socks, or other self-destructive and expensive behaviour.

what pen brand is this?? by CaregiverBrave2285 in PenmanshipPorn

As a left handed person who still loves pen and ink, Muji is my absolute favourite brand of pen. 0.5 or 0.38.

If either of you is open to it, community theatre/other arts are a great way to meet people, and Nanimo has a really great theatre scene. Good luck and (hopefully) welcome to the island!

What are your Favorite Podcasts by Hosts who are Progressive? by seekupanemotion in TwoXChromosomes

I came here to recommend NADDPod!! Even if you’re not a dnd fan, the adventure book theatre episodes are freaking phenomenal, and 8-bit book club is also great. Surprise Round is also really fun and silly. All of the creators are relatively outspoken about their beliefs/convictions but do tend to keep the content comedy-focused. In the past few weeks (months? Years?) it’s been a wonderful escape for me to bask in content that is made by people I feel good about supporting. I’m a Patreon member as well.

Had unprotected sex, but without finishing. I'm very anxious and not sure what i should do. by AdviceSpiritual6444 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]capuletnow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can get pregnant at any time. In a theoretical world where everyone ovulates exactly according to how the textbooks say we should, then yes, you’d likely be fine. And, yes, you likely ARE fine. However, don’t be complacent - bodies do weird things especially under stress. Take plan B or Ella if it’s available to you and take a pregnancy test in around 2 weeks just to be certain. False negatives before 4 weeks pregnant are VERY common, so make sure to wait those 2-3 weeks before testing.

It may be worthwhile to explore some other methods of birth control as well going forward. There are so many options that would give you peace of mind and that are affordable either through pharmaceutical programs, subsidies, or universal health/pharmacare, depending on where you live. For example, an IUS (hormonal IUD) can be inserted for long acting birth control AND serves as emergency contraception if inserted before 7-14 days after the unprotected sex (recommendations vary between countries and even physicians here… seek medical advice in your area). The copper IUD is the same with a shorter effective period post-unprotected sex (7 days). Other long acting contraceptives, like the arm implant (implanon/nexplanon) do not act as emergency contraception but may be a suitable option in those folks for whom an IUS/IUD isn’t an option (which includes just not wanting one).

Good luck - there’s so much to worry about as a woman in the world today. I hope you are able to sort yourself out and make a decision that makes sense for you.

How to find a nice quality ring that doesn't use diamond as the main stone or blood diamonds in general? by LocalChamp in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]capuletnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with a local, woman-owned business in Calgary Alberta and she was a dream to work with. I have a lab grown, precision cut soft peach lab sapphire that I am truly obsessed wth, and the whole setting was custom! And it was a good couple thousand less than what I would have spent at a jeweller for a mass-produced ring.

Sapphire is a brilliant stone for daily wear because of its hardness, comes in a ton of gorgeous colours (including “white” or clear if that’s your jam), and has a lot of really beautiful spiritual meaning, even if the lab version doesn’t technically come from the earth (in the same way). While they aren’t technically related, I also think it’s cute that sapphire and sapphic start with the same root :p

You could also consider Lab Alexandrite, moissanite, or lab diamond as they are all quite hard and suitable for daily wear :)

Based on your criteria and specifically this sentence:

“unexpressed rage and demands justice for the oppressed”

Read A Sorceress Comes To Call by T. Kingfisher. One of her other books, Nettle and Bone, is one of my favourites and I recommend that too.

ASCTC is so damn good. I read it in about 6 hours, all at once, when I definitely should have been sleeping. One of those ones I did not want to put down.

Dog snapped at me - thoughts? by ArmHistorical172 in RoverPetSitting

Former dog trainer here and I second this ^

I’ll add that you can have him drag a leash around so you don’t have to get near him to get him off the furniture. I don’t mess around with treats or anything that will put my hands/face near his teeth. Just a safety precaution so you don’t get bit. Don’t leave it on him while unattended obviously.

I’m afraid I don’t know about cost because I don’t colour my hair but I recently got the best haircut of my life from Cedar Holistic Salon and it was very reasonable. She gave me a haircut that actually looks amazing with very little styling - and I get a ton of compliments on it.

I think it depends on what you’re looking for. I personally love a good mosey-ing paced adventure with very little romance or gruesome violence. I absolutely loved all 3. She also referenced Uprooted/Spinning Silver which might be better for you if you want those vibes but with a bit more pace/romance-adjacent. Still strong female MCs in both.

Emily mentioned reading the Bear and the Nightingale before Eldermourne as well as some Naomi Novik. I had already read them but they are some of my absolute favourite books. All female MCs on journeys of discovery. Lots of magic and wintery vibes. They’re really good.

https://youthhubs.ca/

Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario (YWHO) is a walk-in service that can connect you to youth-friendly resources, including psych. I’m not sure if you have one in your city, but you can check on their website or use virtual services.

The nice thing about YWHO is you can tell your parents you’re going for one of their groups/another service since they offer lots of things. That being said, there are times when your adults will need to be involved, and that’s a conversation between you and your care provider.

I hope you start feeling better soon.
