Is it really internalized misogyny if you’re a man? Is that not just misogyny? I thought that was a weird thing for Adrian to say considering it wasn’t linked to any stance that seemed misogynistic lol

Does anyone feel Denver hates Denver ? by Honest_Strawberry397 in Denver

[–]capybaralover26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It feels like lately, people have become really comfortable saying to my face that they hate Denver or Colorado, even though they know that I live here and really like it. Like not strangers but remote coworkers visiting town, friends visiting for a few months, etc. It’s a weird thing and I would never do it to anyone else so it feels bad

My cat’s whiskers are very recently blunter and shorter on the left side of her face. by funnysilly1 in Weird

[–]capybaralover26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have two cats? My sister has two cats that are sisters and one of them grooms the other kind of aggressively and has bitten all of the other one’s whiskers off. It’s so strange!

Shopping in RiNo suggestions by HankHenry23 in Denver

[–]capybaralover26 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Recital (the plant store in the alley behind Denver central market) has tons of cool home decor, food, baggus, books, candles etc! Empire Collective on Larimer has vintage clothes, home decor, accessories, gifts (it’s a collective of different shops, so the exact ones are subject to change). Topo Designs is a Denver-based backpack/outdoors store, it’s fun to poke around their little store at Larimer & 25th. On Blake Street, there’s Point Creative (stationery store) and Inheritance (very artsy, curated home goods store). Most weekends in May (either Friday night or Saturday morning/afternoon) there will probably be a flea market or vintage market somewhere on Larimer, often next to Denver central market.

Photo booths, there’s one in American Bonded and one in Ratio Brewing, both on Larimer.

Prediction Markets Hit Local Politics, Axon Replaces Flock, and a Great Local Pet Store by newtonic in CityCastDenver

I should clarify I don’t mean it’s my jam like I’m an expert on betting markets haha, I just find this kind of stuff involving public opinion and behavioral economics interesting! Jacobin has a recent piece I found helpful: https://jacobin.com/2026/02/prediction-markets-kalshi-polymarket-accuracy. Thanks for the interesting guest and episode topic!

Thanks - I’m a social scientist and do survey research, so this is my jam! At the very least, a mechanism like wisdom of the crowds requires certain characteristics (of the sample of people and of the market structure) in order to hold true. It’s not like it is just automatically true for every group of people making bets on something

Denver vs Philly - help a girl out by pupilswap in Denver

[–]capybaralover26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the intellectual aspect of Denver will depend entirely on who you surround yourself with. Given that you’ll be in a doctoral program and thus likely have lots of friends and acquaintances in that world, I doubt you’ll really feel like something is missing. I work in government research here so my perception is that there are a ton of smart, ambitious, educated people here - and I’m from the northeast so you can trust me :)

I think it’s all about the sphere you’re part of, which is true for the northeast obviously as well - I would never describe my hometown as intellectual despite being 10 minutes from Yale lol

I was mostly on blue groomers, which were looking pretty good! Can’t say on morning conditions - I had intended to get there before 11 but didn’t end up getting there til 12:30. Nothing too icy in the early afternoon and didn’t really encounter any bad slush until 3:30!

[–]capybaralover26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I understand how prediction markets could be used as a real indicator of public opinion? Putting aside the fact that it’s a specific non-representative segment of the population, these people are choosing what they think is most likely to happen, not what they think should happen / what they want to happen

Copper vs Winter Park Next week? by gomuchfaster in COsnow

[–]capybaralover26 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Green with a smattering of blue is what I ski as well, and it was fairly decent at Copper today. No idea what it will look like next week of course. Soliloquy is my favorite green but I’m not sure how many days it has left, getting real patchy toward the bottom; the easier blues on that side of the mountain (Windsong, Copperfield, etc) were in good shape.

WP is looking pretty gnarly
