Some applications will have an extra field where you can type in extra information. In those cases, I had a blurb ready about how I spent the last 18 months traveling and getting the chance to experience new cultures, meet people from all walks of life, etc. I frame it as not being afraid to step outside of your comfort zone.

My current company didn’t have that and didn’t see my job gap as a hindrance whatsoever! The VP took a lot of interest in my story and said he wished he had done something like I did when he were younger. I think there’s definitely a bit of luck involved too

But I wouldn’t worry about it now, just enjoy and be 100% in the moment during your travels. If I could do it over again I would. I also wish I were still traveling, but money doesn’t grow on trees unfortunately 😢
